Anyway final thoughts are f***ing hell that show ruled My favorite AEW show yet, taken as a whole. They still have a lot of room to grow on some stuff, especially the camera work on that battle royal, but I'm stoked for the future. Helps, also, that Lucha Bros versus Bucks is finally over. It served its purpose, but I've had my fill of that matchup for a long time.

I used to think Jericho winning was the wrong move, but I started coming around on that a couple of weeks after DoN and FFTF solidified for me that Page wasn't ready to be champ, much less the guy you want to build a new company around. Jericho winning was the right call. Gives the belt instant prestige given his lengthy list of accomplishments, and sets up for a good feud with another face, plus also setting up for Page's own storylines after this loss.
Page will get his chance to shine, but hotshoting the title to him would've hurt his AEW career in the long run IMO. He looked great in this match and reminded me more of the guy who I liked in New Japan and ROH versus what he was trying to previously do in AEW. Even though he lost, he didn't come off as a goober either.

In any case, winning tonight would have likely got him some backlash from people who think he doesn't belong, but taking their time will bear fruit, I think. Within a year's time, if he's become AEW champion, I wouldn't be shocked. MJF, PAC, Spears, etc, give him another feud for the time being and return to Jericho later.

Hey just realized a plus side of Moxley missing this, now him vs. Omega can be the main event of whatever PPV it's on.

Here’s how I know I should never be allowed to run a wrestling company.
I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from booking Orange Cassidy to be the champion.

That whole bit was dumb, ridiculous and shouldn’t have worked but man, the crowd (and me) were into that stuff entirely. The Okada zoom for the triple hug was gold.

I’m not sure what I’d pick for match of the night. But my moment would be AA hitting the spine buster.

I wonder who Jericho's first challenger will be? Omega unlikely after two defeats (one to Jericho), Moxley if healthy would give off a WWE lite vibe as we saw them feud there recently, Pac would be heel v heel, Cody perhaps as he's more synonymous with AEW/Elite/Rhoodes family than WWE.

Cody is likely the first challenger since he has the best singles record with 2 Wins and a Draw

I'd definitely say Cody. First-time viewers would know who he is and he's positioned very strongly but can absolutely take a loss, perfect to hold the line with Jericho while you build up other people on the weekly TV.

Okay so I was at a friend's place and didn't have much chance to live thread but I need to come in here and say that Marq Quen doing a f***ing coast-to-coast hot tag has made me a raging fanboy for life, that is the sickest shit ever

This seems like a mediocre show, judging by everything I've read. Wrestling as a whole is just in a lull right now, in my opinion. Was anything but mediocre. Show was quite good and set a good tone for tv

Kassidy pulls his weight on the team so it isn’t like many other tag teams where there’s an obvious weak link but Christ that moment and his shooting star press...*chef kiss*
