That was the best show I've ever been to. Its been said, but AEW is just an awesome variety show. So many great matches and characters that delivered tonight. Also, I got to see Arn hit a spinebuster. I can die a happy man.

Eh, ultimately, this is us lauding AEW for doing what WWE gets criticized for, resting on Attitude Era names. It sucks. Nah, when WWE brings out some Attitude Era holdout it's someone who isn't full time with the company and usually can't go anymore, and in several cases weren't putting on great matches twenty years ago either. Having a veteran big guy in your promotion is a really consistent staple across wrestling, WWE just takes it too far in a lot of weird and insane ways. WWE gets criticized way more in the process for its part-timers and for not building any current stars because all the effort and shine is being put on the old dudes. Jericho has consistently been working since the Attitude Era so he's hardly just someone who was big 20 years ago on a nostalgia bend, and there's stars being made up and down the card. There's logic to be found in using him now as a single veteran name, I don't think this is really comparable to how WWE handles its nostalgia at all.

The old gatekeeper is a classic wrestling trope, making Jericho the final challenge for whoever unseats him (I don't think it should be Hangman Page, Mox, Pac, Kenny, and even Five Star Cody could be massive if they beat Jericho on TNT) makes logical sense.
Crowning Page on the show that is gong to be the last show without TV to build to it is dangerous, because pretty much any babyface needs the momentum of TV to sell the chase properly.
Pac could have and should have won the belt outright, but whatever secret problems that happened to him ended up being prevented that, but it did seem to give us the Kenny Omega can't get it done in America storyline, which I am loving.

Aesthetically I really can’t shake the feeling of TNA when watching AEW. I don’t know what it is but it feels like TNA mid 00’s. They really need to change the look and set up to feel fresh and different in my opinion, quality wrestling isn’t enough to entice me as silly as that sounds

The old gatekeeper is a classic wrestling trope, making Jericho the final challenge for whoever unseats him It's been used to launch a number of promotions and top titles, from WWE (when it was WWWF) to TNA/Impact. Buddy Rogers only won because they wanted a top name for their chosen one Bruno to beat. Similar reason for setting up Shamrock to lose it almost immediately to R-Truth. ...crap that last sentence sounds so odd.

Yeah, to me, if anything, AEW looks and feels like a modernized WCW. In a good way I'd say.

That was easily the weakest of the AEW shows so far. I’m actually gutted I spent money on it, main event was boring as shit, had to skip the dark order match cus I was nearly falling asleep and that ladder match isn’t my thing which I knew going in to it.
Cody V Spears, Omega V pac and SCU V Boy Boy & Dinosaur and the triple threat were all good though, the Joshi match which has been some of the highlights of the other shows was a bit underwhelming

I only have myself to blame for being disappointed that Punk didn’t show up. Well, it was in Chicago, Punk being in the same city from an earlier event, and not being WWE. You weren't wrong to expect it, lol. yes it was punk said it a thousand times that he’s not going to aew

I enjoyed most of this show but there were a few things that i wasn't ok with. Cody using pyro in his entrance was one of those things. Normally i wouldn't have a problem with this.
But on this occasion i did have a problem with it. Because he came out with Pharoh who was noticeably distressed by the pyro that was used in Cody's entrance.
Things like thunder and fireworks are known to cause dogs distress. So i'm suprised that Cody was seemingly unaware of that.

Also Brandi was very against it apparently, even without mortars. She was PISSED.They also said he won't be there again for it.

One thing I liked was when Marq hit the Shooting Star he got out of the ring and rolled Isiah in as he wasn't legal

I have no earthly idea what they are doing with Omega but it's a bad idea. Like mega huge bad idea. It's the sort of thing Tanahashi has been doing in NJPW but first off Tana was like 40 when they started the "He can't win the big one" bit and Omega is 35. Second, AEW is a new company and Omega is obviously the guy who should be their ace and top guy. This isn't even a serious debate. As it is, you have a new company with the hottest free agent in the business that fans have heard about for the past few years, and he's jobbing on major PPVs. There are times to do a redemption storyline with Omega and this is 100% not that time. Try 4 years from now after he's had the AEW title 3-4 times. Instead I think they're just killing him off out of the gate, causing fans to immediately lose interest, and it is just utter and complete booking madness. So is he now facing Moxley at the next PPV? Does it matter? He just lost on PPV to a guy last seen in America jobbing to ENZO AMORE. Wasn't the whole point of not doing Page/PAC at the previous PPV that PAC refused to go over there because it meant he'd be jobbing at this PPV to Omega? Now that he dropped his 2nd rate belt in Japan you can freely bring him in to put over Omega, but he goes over? For what possible purpose? To have him vs. Jericho in a heel/heel title match that no one will care about?
I mean look at that main event last night. You have a washed up 49 year old guy against a 27 year old guy that isn't remotely there yet. Gee, if only they had a 30 something guy in his relative prime they could build the company around. Oh, wait. They do!
