Give it a few years, and people will forget that Jinder Mahal exists at all, let alone was f***ing WWE champion for the better part of a year. Let's not sell Mahal's reign short here. Sure, it wasn't popular, but it's still longer than the combined totals of guys like Bray Wyatt (49), Jeff Hardy (42), Roman Reigns (118), Eddie Guerrero (133), The Miz (16), and even Edge (4 total reigns, combined total of 139 days). I thought it was tremendous at first. It was evident quickly that he just wasn’t cut out to be a main eventer.

Also the length of Gillberg's LHW reign. That whole reign made me forget that the belt even existed in the first place. Even though Taka Michinoku and Dean Malenko held the title for lengthy reigns, at least they were consistent in appearing on TV with the belt.

Jinder was the most obscure guy to ever win the WWE/F Championship ever, and probably will be until the company boards up. He was a legitimate jobber. And wasn’t even built up. He was just handed the belt. It is still pretty baffling to me.

I'd argue that the handling of his push was the beginnings of the utter shitshow we were given throughout the rest of 2017 and early 2018. They could've done so much more with him, but they kept him firmly planted in the angry foreign heel gimmick and refused to budge until the KSA paid out more than India ever hoped to. They could have at least kept him in the upper midcard as a suitable IC/US threat, but instead they tossed him and treat him as nothing more than trash. Some would argue that's all he deserved, but I feel that anyone given the opportunity should at least not be abandoned by creative and used as the scapegoat for the underlying problem (see: Corbin, Baron). Such a waste to be honest, he still has one of the best entrances:

Probably not even close to the true answer, and hell, I'm a huge fan of the guy myself, but who else flat out f***ing forgets that Kanyon is a former WWF Tag Team champion?
