Going to give this show a try but would rather just skip around rather than start from the beginning. I love obscure stories from the territory days that are more humorous than anything for an idea of my taste. Thanks in advance

The first 2 years of the show are fun. Then it became "Hey lets cram all of Last's friends on. And have then do kindergarten level characters."
That backfired on Last. And the last 10 or so episodes are much better.

Tom Robinson and Denim Fritz fallout notwithstanding, how did that "backfire" on Last?

I enjoy the "In The News" segments with Cornette.

Tom Robinson and Denim Fritz fallout notwithstanding, how did that "backfire" on Last? Lots of people stopped listening. The Top 10 was suppose to be for oddball characters in wrestling. Not whatever stupid crap Last's friends could come up with. Between the change in the show and how the show went from weekly to maybe a new episode every 3 to 5 weeks the show lost a lot of steam.

“Rat Poison” You’re welcome. Listening to this one now, chunks at a time. Any similar episodes? I’ve heard some of the stories the first guy told, but that one about Jake drinking a whole bottle of piss then trying to kiss on him on the lips to prove he respected him sure was something.

The "Star Wars" episodes are fun. Just Brian and various co hosts talking about whatever without edits. I.thought the last episode with Mike Sempervive was really good as well. Mike got pretty deep into how wrestling helped him process his dad's illness and death.

Most of the Jerry Grey episodes are magic. There’s another magic story of a mad husband putting a gun to Jake’s head and demand he do something for him.

Kurt Brown and Gray discussing just what a shithole Portland territory was is also a must hear.

Honestly, just start at the beginning if you like it from listening to one episode. That way you will understand later references to earlier shows and characters much more.

The Fumi Saito appearances are great. From the Japanese fan perspective why Inoki was despised by the boys and Baba had so many loyal wrestlers working under him. He also explains why Inoki hated Baba.

The tribute episodes are great too. I haven't listened to The Destroyer one let but I will soon. But the Mean Gene and Bruno ones were really good.

I love this podcast and I like Last a lot too but his ego comes out at times and I think it turned a lot of people off to him. His one man crusades to talk shit about Lance Storm, Jim Ross, Tom Robinson, Jake Roberts, etc. gets to be too much. It’s hard to support a guy that comes off so hateful and bitter at times because he has it out for someone over some petty grudge. I’m not going to get upset at someone because the host of a podcast I’m a fan of decides he’s offended by that person in some way. Get over it and stop using your platform for hate. Disrespecting wrestling personalities is a bad move, especially when you’re just a fan. Maybe he’s trying to do a Jim Cornette rant type of thing. Idk. It’s not working for him. That much I can tell you. Otherwise it’s a can’t miss show. Just stick to great guests, quality research and amazing stories. That’s what made it so great in the first place.

Jake Roberts refuses to pay back a man who is battling stage 4 cancer as he tours the country speaking about how he's a changed man. He's a POS.

Jerry wasn’t asking for money from Jake. For Last to launch into some self righteous mission to get people to harass Jake over a debt that’s decades old isn’t really his business or his place to lash out the way he did. That whole social justice anger crap is a bad look. I feel bad for Jerry and it sucks that Jake ripped him off but even Jerry said he should’ve known better and laughed it off.

Which episode numbers are these ones? Episode 86 for general Portland talk. Episode 93 for Billy Jack Haynes talk. I’m listening to episode 86 and am about an hour in. They haven’t talked about Portland yet so hopefully I have the right episode. Also they’re doing a top 10 countdown of comedy impressions that is painful. I hope this isn’t a regular feature but it sounds like it is. I laughed when the Jimmy Valiant character said James Dudley’s Family was protesting Kid Rock’s HOF induction though.

Then listen to episode 88 for Jerry’s time in Japan and adventures with dr Death Steve Williams. He was a psychotic f***.
