I read a comment saying they should've done the tag gauntlet first and then Kofi's gauntlet. Looking back, that would make absolutely no sense and tonight was the better result. Kofi is a TAG TEAM guy so it makes sense that he was finally able to earn his shot via a tag team match. More importantly it looks way less OP if a tag team won five matches in a row than one person would. New Day were actually well booked during the gauntlet and the Usos moment will probably be remembered as one of the best moments during the Kofi/Bryan storyline as well as the entire face roster running out to celebrate.

That continuity of the respect between the New Day and the Usos was a nice touch.

I definitely appreciate the spirit of it but really wish they would have approached it from a different angle than, "Vince does the exact same thing he did last week but this time doesn't pull some extra complication out of his ass afterward."
Although I did really, really like the Usos deciding to stand down.

I definitely appreciate the spirit of it but really wish they would have approached it from a different angle than, "Vince does the exact same thing he did last week but this time doesn't pull some extra complication out of his ass afterward." Although I did really, really like the Usos deciding to stand down. I think it was more or less implied that Bryan and Rowan were the trump card like Bryan was last week, but The Usos sabotaging the Gauntlet by forfeiting meant they were using it earlier than anticipated. |

I was effusive of my praise for this storyline last week. I wanna temper that now.
I didn't like two things about last night. First, New Day said they wouldn't tolerate Vince's false promises any longer. And... then they do?
I didn't like how Vince just accepts that Kofi is now just going to Wrestlemania and Vince will accept it. Though to be fair, I expect there is one more swerve to come or Vince will use this to drive a wedge between New Day. That part writes itself.

That's the core of what makes this story great and why I've wanted this story; WWE likes to make islands out of its stars. Its top guys tend to stand alone without any friends or emotional connections to anyone, only The Shield has really bucked this trend out of the past many years of top faces going it alone and even then they're usually only like this when they re-enter each others' orbit for a reunion. Any time someone does get a friend, it's generally with the payoff of eventual betrayal. The only strong exception here is in tag teams, but even then they can go forever without really having any big moment or connection; The Shield is the only face team with any sense of brotherhood or bond between them. We never get Roode and Gable expressing anything on an emotional level that has any meaning. We've never seen any moment that brought the B-Team closer together through bonding and struggle. But New Day has had that bond from very early on and they've taken every opportunity in the more free and loose internet stuff to push the idea of that brotherhood and how much E and X both look up to Kofi as someone who helped save their careers, someone who deserves the hall of fame, someone who deserves the title. It's very rare we get this kind of emotional storytelling in WWE and get to see characters have this real a bond. It makes it feel like a real television show. I'm happy to live these good times while they last because this is a really special story they've fallen into and I may have had doubts about the exact path they've taken, but I am still completely on board for this journey and am so unbelievably happy to be getting this. Hopefully WWE can learn from how much love this is getting, and can allow their characters to function like real people more. |

it was a great idea to make all of New Day fully apart of this ride. Even moreso since I remember years ago Woods and E said their goal is to help make Kofi champ. It went full circle that they were the ones to solidify Kofi finally getting the shot. The only gripes I had was how long this process was dragged out, and how frustrating it was considering the McMahon’s has a full promo not too long ago saying things were going to change and the focus would be what the fans want. That promo is now obsolete, I was waiting for someone to challenge Vince’s authority using that promo as a reference, and nothing came of it. I was also expecting Linda McMahon to come out of retirement to finally say Kofi was getting the Mania match.

But it needs to be a slow burn that would be my concern, seems wwe tends to slow burn on the stuff people really want them to pull the trigger on (sahsa/bayley 75 years and counting), and then when it comes to something people don't care much about (corbin/angle for instance) it's dragged long for half a year or so. |

Have Big E win the Money In The Bank briefcase and then have a slow burn of will he/won't he while Woods is in tge middle and conflicted ("Well we did help him get there") They will probably go for it too quickly and lose any tension.

I f***ing loved this, and now that Kofi is actually in the title match (I wasn't buying it until they announced it after the Bryan debacle) I can say I am all in on this storyline and actually think they've handled it masterfully in hindsight. They don't do that much. |

This could also lead to either Woods or E turning on Kofi down the road ( probably E ) saying he was a big reason why Kofi is now champ and now he is looking out for himself and go after Kofi and the title.
To be fair I'm like 0-41 on predicting New Day heel turns. Lol.
