Honestly I really don't at all buy the, "There's a women's Mania main event now, progress is done!" thing if only because... just look at the rest of the Mania card. They're at 14 matches right now and outside of the main event, which is clearly only the main event because after a year they're still chasing the myth of Ronda still being popular in the mainstream, they're just cramming every woman in the company into a pair of clusterf***s, one of which probably isn't even going to make the main card.
Freaking WrestleMania 22 had more of substance going on for the women's division at large and that show had a Playboy pillow fight and Sharmell fighting the Boogeyman.
Saying that, other sports feature different divisions and classes side by side all the time so...maybe it is possible?
When do you think progress will be fully complete? When the program, advertising and public opinion of storyline quality is split 50/50 between women and men? This isn't a dig, I'm just making sure that's the ideal we are all working towards
Doesn't need to be that much because, realistically, that's not going to happen for a looooong time because there just plain aren't as many available women's wrestlers available nor as many who've grown their stars elsewhere which seems to be a lot of WWE looks for these days.
But when we reach a point when multiple women's storylines (not all involving titles) are going on at a given time, they aren't being muscled out of screentime constantly (Asuka / Charlotte was the first women's match since like Elimination Chamber to break ten minutes and most of them in the time in between didn't get five, and it's always something like Mandy / Naomi getting dropped from a show whenever they need to rewrite something last minute), NXT bothers having a women's division extending beyond "This is who the champion is and who they're currently defending against,", they can manage to give decent Mania time and spotlight to at least two or three women's matches, and they can stop giving women sudden accolades out of nowhere basically entirely for what they look like (to be fair not done it in awhile, but check back with me on Sunday when Lacey inevitably wins the battle royal) we'll talk.
It'd also be nice if we could have at least, like, one or two high-profile women's storylines that amounts to something other than high school bully talk or, "Bitches be crazy!" but then again it's not like they try with the men's storylines either.
