I liked both the European and Hardcore championships for the most part. I feel that both could have been better utilized.
I was annoyed when the Hardcore Championship was retired, because the week before they ended the 24/7 rule. That made me get my hopes up that they were going to start taking the division more seriously. I actually liked the championship better pre-24/7 rule. The championship seemed to have at least some value at the time. Since the 24/7 rule was Crash Holly's idea for his own reign, it really should have ended when he lost it. I thought the WrestleMania 2000 match was supposed to settle it once and for all, with them getting all of the silly quick reigns done with in one night. I think the Hardcore Championship would have been cooler if it had been changed from the comedy championship to the division for former ECW guys.
I always thought that the European Championship should have been used as the Sunday Night Heat championship. Have the title match main event most of those shows, to make it seem like the stepping stone from the lower mid card to the mid-card IC Title.
Like how any wrestler can turn it around with the right angle or gimmick change, I don't think any of the championships are ever beyond salvaging. Unless David Arquette and Vince Russo win it. Then it's toast.

The Hardcore Title could do wonders for the lower card guys barely getting air-time on the main roster today and would make for some great social media content.

The annoying thing is the hardcore belt was fantastic the year before they canned it. Raven and Rhyno stole the show with it at Backlash. Then RVD had his fantastic matches with Jeff Hardy and was a brilliant champion. Then the Undertaker had one of the best runs of his career with his heel turn (just after the worst run of his career, 2001) and was a fantastic hardcore champion and destroying the Hardys each week.

The appeal of the hardcore title was the 24-7 rule.
Just create a WWE 24-7 Championship for comedy value online, excluding the hardcore wrestling shit,

It's weird, because the Hardcore Title would make a lot of sense if only for the Network. Alright, maybe not the Hardcore Title. Not in this WWE. But the 24/7 rule. If throughout the day there was a chance on the network that you'd get a sudden Hardcore Title match in the parking lot of a Chuck E Cheese, I think it would generate a lot of buzz.

There's quite a few guys on the roster who make for entertaining brawls (Elias, Strowman, Drew, even Corbin). Some light-hearted brawling could do the WWE some good. They don't even have to be all that violent with it, just have some big spots out by the concession stands or something. It could be less violent than Orton/Hardy or Becky beating the hell out of Rousey and Flair. The 24/7 rule could also still be in place without being the main focus and completely overdone.

Hardcore title was very much a product of it’s time, and a really terrible idea that devalued titles as a whole even then.

They should bring back the Hardcore title and book it like the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship. Only if they recreate that time Joey Ryan lost the title to Vince’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
