Not having his return be a big angle similar to HBKs in 2002. Seriously, go back and watch that and tell me they couldn’t have done that with Bryan. Like I said in another thread, it would be like HBK returning in 2002 after so much hype and then feuding with... Albert. They could have BUT I prefer this scenario
DB is a character and a damn good one right now. He was still champ less than a year after he came back
To each their own. I personally hate this version of him. Even though I would have never turned him heel... if he was to turn heel, I would have him more like 2006 Bryan Danielson. Not some environmental vegan enthusiast with a wooden title or whatever he’s supposed to be. I just think he’s capable of being so much more.

This is Daniel Bryan turned up to 100 which is why he's been able to knock it out the park imo

It’s actually pretty amazing to think that as over as he was as a face before his injuries that he has been able to come back and transition into a heel role and actually get heat. This thing could have had fallen flat on its face,

We don’t know if he wanted this specific character. It’s true that he wanted to turn heel though. Pretty sure he’s not even a vegan anymore in real life.

No, that is exactly how they wanted the Big Cass vs. Daniel Bryan match to go down.
Speaking of which, here's that awesome promo where Daniel Bryan told you the match was going to go like that.

from all reports Bryan's a pretty chill dude and didn't even start shooting after Necro Butcher started punching him for real makes me think no.

Yeah Bryan's heel turn is all him. I get people not like it but shit, he's the performer. He's the guy being the character so what he wants to do is most important given he's the one in the play. Bryan's been wanting to turn heel for a great while and he's putting out his best work since that whole WM30 arc. I'll actually say current Bryan's the best character Bryan's ever been in this company. His WM30 story is great but it wasn't great due to his character, it was great due to his history. Character-wise current Bryan's cutting better promos, he's having a more well-rounded character and he's having more of himself in what he's doing compared to any other time in this company.

This character is clearly influenced by him, if you listened to the material it is stuff he's talked about but obviously not to the heel scale he's doing

And actually here's Bryan's own opinion of his former WWE character and current WWE character from various interviews these past few months. People were saying "we want that old WM30 Daniel Bryan but Bryan was like "nah, f*** that" lol.
People wanted Daniel Bryan to basically be one of those artists who always uses the same sound and not evolve but Bryan wanted to be K. Dot. He wanted to switch things up because it's all part of the art.

Well yeah, my bigger point is whether he is still vegan or not this character is influenced by him. He has the ammo being a vegan or former vegan to speak on this topic and turn his rhetoric up 100 percent

He's just amping it up 200% and being a Holier than Thou Zealot about it. honestly doing that is probably the only real way to get people to boo him as it is such a departure from hero of the downtrodden yes movement Daniel... and in fact openly cuts down it, and that is the only real way to start getting boos once you hit a certain level. See Mick Foley Anti-hardcore, SRS Jericho, etc.

I don't think Bryan's shooting without permission on anyone like that. He also doesn't really have any 'legit credentials', dude did zero college wrestling before he started training to be pro wrestler. He's kind of like Lawler. He's not an athlete or fighter in the traditional sense, and just seems to have a set of talents that apply to wrestling and like nothing else.

Yea, having him with this holier than thou type of character works for him because he always had an ego but obviously as a babyface it's going to be portrayed as confidence
He basically did the Jericho approach of killing a lot which made you popular and just starting from scratch but something you know you can work with and it works greatly for him

yeah I edited in afterwards the two things that his character change is most like. Anti-Hardcore Mick Foley and SRS Jericho. Taking what people liked about their characters and basically turning them on their heads and burning them down entirely. granted of course Mick at the time of the Anti-hardcore wasn't a main eventer but it is the exact opposite of the King of the Deathmatch stuff he was known for.

After the match, Bryan went after Big Cass with a screwdriver backstage.

Man, I need to start wearing my glasses when I come on here. I read this thread title as "Did Daniel Bryan shit on Big Cass?" and thought we had another Sid incident on our hands.
