While Roman Reigns winning the 2015 Royal Rumble was catastrophically awful in its execution, history has shown they were right to be skeptical of Daniel Bryan's health going into his return. Instead of vacating the WWE title twice in two years, he instead vacated the IC title when he went down to injury.
Of course, that doesn't excuse WWE of putting the Rumble victory on Roman when they should have taken another year to actually build him up and gain some credibility among the fans. There were other options besides Bryan and Reigns.

Love RVD but he got busted for drugs a week into his title win. I can see why they didn’t have him beat HHH in 2002 now.

Let’s not forget that RVD screwed up the frog splash In the Chamber and collapsed Hunter’s trachea.

Often what fans want is short-sighted and doesn't take a lot of things into account.

Dropping Benoit back into the mid card after Orton beat him for the title. Imagine how it would have looked if post murders he was a face of the company a guy as synonymous with WWE as Cena or Taker.

I wonder if they were right not to let Lex defeat Yokozuna.
They were right not to let Hogan beat Sid clean at WM8.
They were right not to let Jeff Hardy win the ladder match against Taker.
.....I really should put "only able to consistently give detailed information from 1991 - 2002" in my sig

Let’s not forget that RVD screwed up the frog splash In the Chamber and collapsed Hunter’s trachea. To be fair that was more on the design of the chamber.

Ryback seemed like a guaranteed future world champ on paper. dude was over and had a catchphrase the fans liked to chant. but he was really limited in the ring at a time when that was starting to actually matter. big stars (notably John Cena and CM Punk) hated working with him because he was dangerous as f***, and the dude has since exposed himself as a bit of a nutter. there's things WWE knows about long before the fans do and in retrospect it's not that surprising they basically forgot about the guy.

They dodged a bullet by not having Jeff Hardy beat Orton for the title at Royal Rumble 08.

Braun at the beginning. Fans didn't give a shit about him, but the WWE stuck with him, turned him into a giant cartoon character, and he's become one of the biggest faces in the company.
Of course, they still won't listen to the fans, and have him choke in the big matches, and don't give him a run with the title.

Was anyone calling for a Sandow main event push, or is it like Zac Ryder where people wanted him to be used more/better at the time... Which people acted like was a demand for a main event push after his burial. This is the problem in WWE right now and since the Cena era, really. If you aren't in a top program (or Elias), you get nothing. There need to be angles for the undercard.

They dodged a bullet by not having Jeff Hardy beat Orton for the title at Royal Rumble 08. Refresh my memory on this, please? If I recall, he got suspended a month or so after this loss for failing a drug test, but I don't think he was ever slated to win the title here, he was still IC champion when he faced Orton. I think he was supposed to win Money in the Bank at WM24 and then go on to cash in and win the World title, but he was out for 60 or 90 days which caused him to miss Mania and Punk got the win instead.
