So damn near every title they had up for grabs changed hands except for the tag titles
Cobb as NEVER champ and Lee as Junior champ should be fun for a while

I'm all about Cobb right now, but I think it was a mistake taking the Jr. title off of Ishimori. I think he had a lot left to give as champ.
Stale ass GoD can go away tho.

I'm curious how Ibushi will go as IC champ, since that's usually the spot for headlining the "B cards" in the less traditional NJPW markets. Nakamura and Naito were already pretty established draws by the time they got their extended runs with the belt (the other guys besides them and maybe Kenny didn't hold the belt long enough to do much of that), but while Kota is loved this is also his chance to show he can carry a house.

As I said before I think this is the chance of him climbing up to the IWGP title. Giving him the IC title means they believe in him as the secondary draw and if he can deliver on that front the discussion next year will be when does Ibushi win the IWGP title. Once he signed that contract the doors opened big time for possibilities and NJPW is taking the smart approach with him

I think this was mostly a bunch of good moves that should freshen up the cards a bit.
I suspect we’re getting the Dragon Lee title reign as prep for Hiromu’s return.

GoD won me over by crapping on ROH hard. But the IWGP tag title scene really needs to freshen up, the World Tag League showed hope but now we are back to the status quo. Cobb winning is good with me, although I was really liking the direction Ospreay was going. I would guess he will do this years BOSJ, but I am hoping he gets picked for the G1 as well.

The tag scene could use a couple of Good Brothers. Or some Top Guys. 🤔

Yea, they don't want to go full force with LIJ with the tag belts so got to find new challengers tho with Yano they seem to be leaning that direction
I still want my Ishii/Goto tag team

This is good for New Japan. Lee is fantastic, but Ishimori will still be a cornerstone of the Jr. division. Cobb isn't a huge favorite in Japan, but he can definitely get over with more time spent on tours. They already love his mix of power and agility - he's only been around for Tag League matches though.
Also, because dammit I want to believe, Cobb could always defend the NEVER belt against Shingo.

Agreed on Ishii/Goto. I have/had my reservations about what appeared to be "superteams" like Golden Lovers and Tana/Okada busting into the tag scene, but a steady Ishii/Goto pairing would be legit. They're both legitimate heavyweight contenders, and neither are really being used properly at the moment. Kind of a veteran foil to the SANADA/EVIL team.

Both guys elevated the NEVER title and both guys really can't or won't go back that route. NJWP doesn't seem to want them in the IC title phase either as Ibushi has that on lock for a good while
With this whole CHAOS shit, they need to finally disband it and I have been wanting Ishii/Goto as a heel tag team just f***ing everyone up.

I’d love for them to to something meaningful with CHAOS. Either break them up or tell an actual story with them.

Hopefully, Yano running off with the belts is leading to SOMETHING with CHAOS, but it could just be him messing with them due to CHAOS and Bullet Club feuding already due to the schism. Ishii and Goto would be a fun tag of the available CHAOS guys, though subbing in Ospreay for one of them could be fun if they don't have him trying to get the NEVER belt back.

I'm still of the mind that something's going to give on the CHAOS side of things, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it happening in, say, the next month or whatever; Yano is still tagging more and more with Makabe again, Goto's the only CHAOS guy focusing on Bullet Club this tour instead of LIJ, etc., but NJPW booking is rather Ent-like with stuff like this. Jay White's been beaten, he was the big reason CHAOS and Sekigun teamed up in the first place, yet they're still mixing and matching who's teaming with who during the Dontaku tour so I figure there's still a purpose behind that.
But yeah, I've given up trying to project a lot of these things out; part of why they take things so slowly, I figure, is that they like to have the chance to change their minds on things.

I’m thinking the CHAOS split, if it happens is coming after Dominion. Similar to the Bullet Club split last year.

Assuming they’re smart enough to have Naito walk out of WK as champ—new beginning is Shingo splitting Lij and attacking him as his first rival. But I’d bet money on Okada and Ibushi IWGP and Naito jay ic for wk cynically lol
