What would be the reaction of the board? It would obviously be better than Kofi losing but I would love to see the reactions compared to 7 or so years ago

It is what I absoloutley expect to happen and it brings the fact they been using Bryans story to build up Kofi full circle.
But also this has the potential to backfire if they do it and gets Bryan cheered against Kofi from then on.

I'd be surprised if they go that route but we never know.

Kofi would get the reaction Sheamus wish he got. Bryan straight up said he's going to beat Kofi in 18 seconds. If Kofi did it instead? Kofi is a legend.

I really hope that isn't the case. It'd really cheapen Kofi's win to the point where I think a competitive loss would make him look better. Not to mention what it does to Bryan.

In the moment I'd be thrilled Kofi was champion, but then I'd be disappointed it wasn't really earning it.
Although my main reaction to Bryan / Sheamus was laughing at the fact they f***ed people out of it two years in a row.

Faces need to earn the win. The only exception is Dean cashing in on Seth because of their backstory.
Having Kofi win in a quick one does damage to his story.

It would shorten the length of time I'd watch the match from behind my hands, for sure.

It would be a huge anti-climax, to be honest. Yes, fans want to see Kofi win, but they also want to see him finally have a singles match on the biggest stage of them all. And while Bryan could play this off and turn it into more fuel for his heel character (plus, looking ridiculous is something he clearly enjoys), I just don't see how it would help Kofi in the long term.

Would be a shame if thet dis they had a good back and forth in the EC That might be why I think it could work. In this feud Bryan has only beaten Kofi when he has been through hell. Everyone knows Kofi can best Bryan, so Bryan being lackadaisical and getting caught would work. And with the fans as hyped as they are for Kofi, I don't see the save blowback that happened last time. Then, if Bryan stays on SDL, him having to jump through a few hoops (New Day style) as Kofi did for a rematch could make for some interesting TV.

This. I wanna see Kofi winning a gruelling, 20+ minute match. Not a cheap fluke win

Sheamus was incredibly over in the months coming into Mania 28. That night really damaged him. Granted the feud with Del Rio after damaged him some more but you have to go with what works. Kofi should be having the emotional hard fought win and celebrating with Woods and E.

I watch wrestling mainly for the stories, but not ONLY for the stories. I don't want this to just end with 'Kofi wins lol'. I want him to be taken to the limit at the final hurdle and be the better man than Bryan that day.

Honestly the big problem with the Mania 28 thing is that the build didn't earn it. Sheamus and Bryan were barely feuding and in what intersection they did have Sheamus was the instigator; he was continually sneak-attacking Bryan while Bryan spent most of the buildup being focused on AJ and Punk.
Had they done the 18 seconds thing with Big Show / Cody it would have been far more warranted because that build actually WAS calling for the heel to be completely embarrassed.

It'd be kind of poetic justice, especially for all the shit Kofi had to do to get the match to begin with, so I would not hate it, but I want an actual match.

Disappointed about losing out on a good match, but I'd probably laugh pretty hard
