Even as a longtime Undertaker mark, after Crown Jewel, it was probably for the best. But it still felt hella weird without him on the show somewhere.

No offense to Taker, but the build ups to his (mostly) one match a year have felt like a chore for nearly a decade, and the match quality has gotten progressively worse. The second Michaels match would've been the perfect send off, or at the very least Brock at 30 if he wanted to go out doing the favor.
