It wasn’t too long ago everyone was thrilled to see him back, but since the turn and Kofi mania, people would have been furious if he won. Is his time over?
I know he’s not through, I just mean is that period of his career now gone and fans have moved on to others that haven’t held the title?

Not at all.
He bought serious heat to that match and will be in the Main Event scene for years to come. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he was champ again a couple of PPVs down the road.
Plus, I'd wager that his face turn is going to be the stuff of legend.

Bryan can easily hold the title again relatively soon, and I don't think most would angrily object.
People just really didn't want another screwy finish with Kofi when they had a chance to really make a top level babyface.

If we’ve moved on from complaining about Daniel Bryan being under utilitised then I can’t see that being a bad thing.

Nope. He's coming off a stretch of insane PPV matches that had his Brock match, his TLC AJ match, the EC match, the Triple Threat match, and vs Kofi, and probably had the best title run in a long ass time. He can switch back to being a face easily or keep being the top heel.

Nah, I’d say he’s just really good at what he does. Sure we wanted Kofi to win. But we also wanted to see DB lose because he’s an absolute bastard. That’s what heels are supposed to do.

I dunno, I’m ready for the super slow burn face turn down the track where he gets mega over once again. That is gonna be great. As it stands the fact that he has been so successful as a heel just shows you how damn good he is. He is a main event talent for life imo.

No this run has been money. He’s an A+ talent. He’ll probably be sent to Raw and fued with Rollins.

Lol, no he's the top heel in the company and he's playing the role like a champ.

He's a great heel. Hell, he's probably being drafted to Raw just because he's great at what he does. Rollins needs fresh opponents.

We wanted Kofi to win and Bryan to lose because of the story being told. This was not a negative reflection on Bryan at all. He played his role to a Tee and it was glorious. I suspect he'll have the title again before too long. Nearly everyone who wanted him to lose tonight is on record being cool with him getting the title back.

Bryan was the heel here... pretty much the entire point of a heel is you wanting to see them lose to the valiant babyface.... this is what we got tonight. A massively over babyface conquering the asshole heel. This is basic wrestling.

Daniel Bryan is my all time favorite wrestler and I'm so happy he lost tonight.

Without Bryan, that match isn't nearly as good or as emotional as it was for Kofi to get the win
The man went from beloved hero to the feel good moment, to being the asshole trying to prevent another feel good moment. How can you not love that??

Barring another health setback, I would go so far as to say he'll still be one of the most valuable commodities WWE has for at least several more years simply due to his elite level of telling a story both in the build up to and during a match. My guess is he'll probably go to Raw and help heat up Rollins run in the next little bit to freshen things up. I think he's in that "HBK second run" era of his career where he might not hold the title a ton moving forward, but still delivers great matches and stories and has a ton of emotional investment from fans. And a redemption face turn story and title win is something that writes itself and most certainly needs to happen down the road.

Absolutely not. He's on one of the best runs of his career right now and it's not stopping any time soon.

Daniel Bryan did exactly what a heel should do; he made people want the face to win. No amount of love for his work or his past was going to change that; he played his part perfectly and it had people ravenous about the idea of Kofi winning. It's weird because in modern WWE it's usually a matter of people wanting a champ to drop because they don't like the run or the performer. Here, people heaped praise onto Bryan while hoping he lost. It was everything wrestling should be and classically speaking was.
