Well that was smart on their part. Even from the Brock part of being "selfish" and wanting to leave early, he put over Rollins to get the maximum amount of reaction so fair play

If you're not going to be last or the middle, the best spot is first.

Much better way to schedule it than what was planned. It was a good, hot way to kick the show off while Balor / Lashley was the perfect choice for the, "Can we just get this shit over with quick so we can get to the main event?" spot.

Good idea. Heyman was telling the truth.

Heyman is still the best man the company has to understand crowds and the best way to use them to get people over.

I thought it was a great decision. I think the opener position at Wrestlemania has really turned into a prime spot.

Yeah, I said it in the Mania thread that Lesnar opening had to have been a Brock and Heyman idea, if they weren’t gonna main event, the smartest place for that match was first.

Yes, the main event is the main event but you are still sitting through a show that is really long and the crowd will be tired out by then
You want to get on the show in those first 2 hours

Yeah, at this point probably the most valuable real estate on the show is the opener and the around 60% mark when people still have plenty of energy but are on the verge of winding down. Lesnar and Rollins got one, Kofi and Bryan got the other and they both benefited from it.

Smart. I actually watched it because it was first, would have skipped if it came near the end.

Brock waited for the main event after a seven hour show last year and the crowd shit all over it.
Good idea to go first this time.

On a seven hour show I'd much rather open too

As Christian says, "if I'm not on last, put me on first." It's good to be able to open a show and set the standard for everyone to follow. In Brock's case, I genuinely believe he didn't want to hang around for five more hours, or however long it might be, especially for a short match that he's slated to lose.

Is anyone surprised? Brock Lesnar continues to be the smartest wrestler in the history of the business. He likely made more money than anyone else on the card, worked less than three minutes, and didn't have to wait around in the locker room for 8 hours. By match two, I bet he was eating a huge steak (well-done). By match four, he was probably getting on a plane to go home and sleep in his own bed.

I'm not sure that any of that is a testament to him being the smartest. Vince gave a lucrative opportunity to a sports celebrity looking for a big payday and an easy load and Brock took it. It doesn't make him the smartest. It just makes him uniquely qualified.

It makes sense. Set the tone early that "Things are happening tonight", gave the crowd a feel-good buzz, and Lesnar probably gets to beat traffic. Everybody wins.

I thought it was a great decision. I think the opener position at Wrestlemania has really turned into a prime spot. I think this is true for every show. People say “curtain jerker” like it’s a bad thing, but a strong first match can really set the tone for the entire show.

Seth's been getting that spot a lot on PPV in the last year and most of the time had the match of the night with it

I thought it was a great decision. I think the opener position at Wrestlemania has really turned into a prime spot. It is pretty much a main event taking place after what would be a normal length wrestling show in the kickoff.
