What we know so far:
- EA is publisher (duh) - Respawn Entertainment (Titanfall, Apex Legends) is the developer - Tentative release date of November 15th, 2019 - Game is a single player experience following the story of Cal Kestis, a former Padawan who survived Order 66 and the Jedi Purge.
- Looks like one of the major antagonists of the game is Second Sister, a member of the Inquisitorius (who are Dark Jedi who hunt down Jedi in the name of the Empire). Purge troopers, disposable shock troopers (and created from one of the last batches of Clone Troopers) employed by the Inquisitors, are also seen. - Cal Kestis is voiced by Cameron Monaghan, who played the twin brothers that became The Joker on Gotham.
- Stig Asmussen is the game's director. Asmussen previously worked on the God of War series at SCE Santa Monica and was director of God of War III. - Unlike other recent EA games, this one uses the Unreal Engine NOT Frostbite (as confirmed by an EA staffer on Reddit). Hopefully this means Fallen Order avoids many of the problems that plague other studios that use Frostbite. - According to EA Star Wars' official Twitter account, the game will NOT have lootboxes or microtransactions, neither at game launch nor implemented later on. Then again, this is EA so I'll believe it when I see it.
The cinematic trailer looks interesting, but it doesn't really tell us anything about how the game plays. Hopefully we get more info about that if not at rest of Celebration, then at E3.

When I played the single player campaign in Battlefront II it gave me glimpses that they could make a REALLY awesome Star Wars action/adventure game if they wanted to. While I doubt this will be the Holy Grail of Star Wars games let's hope this is at least good.

"EA is publisher"
How to kill hype in just three words.
To be fair, the fact the Apex Legends guys are on board is good. Its,a good game and the microtransactions and loot boxes are pure cosmetics which is fine.

the trailer shows a lot of promise but... none of it is gameplay footage.
I'll hold out giving any real stance until we see some more concrete stuff

They’re also saying it’ll be a “melee action combat” game so with the director of one of the more well known games of that genre, we’re in good hands here.

Honestly, the “Respawn Entertainment” part of the pitch overrides the “EA” part of the pitch.
The people there haven’t stepped a foot wrong so far in my eyes. Titanfall was great, Titanfall 2 was great and Apex Legends has no right to be as good as it is for a free to play battle royale game.

So ...anyone think the protagonist is so badly designed? He looks so bland and generic.
It's Star Wars... I mean, come on, make him look awesome. Not someone who looks like the guy who serves my coffee at Starbucks

EA outbid everyone else, and produce shit. Even without microtransactions, EA's name on this doesn't fill me with hope. I've got a feeling it will be all flash no substance. Like cool looking force abilities like the wall run, but a meandering crap story that makes zero sense and a campaign that's over in 8 hours. Plus, with it being EA, I'm fully expecting there to be some nonsense like paid DLC that, it turns out was cut from the main game so they could charge extra for it or something.

I really want this game to be good but after seeing the EA logo I'm expecting the worst.

The gameplay trailer's been floating around the past couple of days, but here's a more in-depth article about the game's combat and structure. www.gameinformer.com/feature/2019/06/08/the-true-power-of-the-forceSome interesting tidbits: - Combat isn't button mashy or uses combo sequences like you see in Devil May Cry or God of War or countless other action games. Instead the combat's meant to be strategic and "thoughtful." The comparison made is to From Software's games like Dark Souls and Sekiro, but not as punishing. Just that you can't button mash your way to victory. You'll have to fight using dodges, blocks, parries, force powers, and taking advantage of opportunities to get a lethal attack in. - Outside of combat, the game's structure is compared to Metroid (👀), with the ability to use your powers to interact with the environment. And of course, that means when you learn new powers, you can go back to planets you had already been to to find new secrets and parts of the map you previously couldn't access. - The female lead in the game is a former Jedi named Cere and she's voiced by Debra Wilson. - Forest Whitaker does indeed do Saw Gerrera's voice in this game. - Looking at the in-game map is done in real-time, so it's a really bad idea to try and look at it in the middle of a fight. The map system itself sounds VERY similar to Metroid Prime's. And in another element borrowed from Metroid Prime, BD, Cal's droid buddy, can also scan dead enemies and parts of the environment to learn more about the world and lore of the game via logs. - Besides Kashyyyk, one of the other planets you can go to is called Bracca. It's a Mid Rim planet that's an original creation for the game and also where Cal's been laying low at the beginning of the game. - There's no regenerating health. Only way to heal is through health canisters used by BD. These are essentially Estus Flasks from Dark Souls. BD can go off in the environment to try and find materials to make new canisters, but otherwise they can only be refilled at save points. Save points themselves will also respawn enemies, so there's a risk vs reward element to it. - There are different cosmetic item you can find in chests throughout the game world. They change what Cal, BD, and the ship (an original design called the Stinger Mantis) look like. You can also change the hilt, color, and other components of your lightsaber, though it seems red is out. Damn. Maybe it will be DLC. - Wall running and double jumping are Force powers! - The Purge Troopers wield different types of weapons besides electrostaffs. The weapons they use give them different strengths and weaknesses in battle.

Watching the gameplay and it looks like Uncharted, God of War, and Star Wars had a baby. If that's the case, I'm in!
I'm excited to see more, for sure.

The footage looked promising. I'm excited for it, but I'm also going to wait until it comes out. The last Battlefront game was such a disappointment. I even bought it on sale and it seemed like I paid too much for it.

Videos are starting to go up. I'm liking the look.
I'm currently tied up with Death Stranding, but this will be my next game, for sure.

I’m absolutely floored this game isn’t blowing up in this forum. It’s fun as hell, great story and with renewed interest in Star Wars thanks to Mandalorian and the pending release of Rise of Skywalker, this should be more popular that it is. My mind is boggled.

Yeah, it's a pretty good game I'm finding both the exploration and combat fun and the story is pretty engaging so far.
