On Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the Undertaker has signed a new deal with WWE and will not likely book any more third-party appearances.
The Q&As at his upcoming UK appearances will now be done by Mick Foley. Undertaker will still appear at Starrcast.

I can’t even remember the last time I watched Taker and it didn’t just feel sad.

It's cool to see people get jobs elsewhere like JR and Jericho, but I do think Undertaker should be paid by WWE for the rest of his life pretty much. So a smart move to stay with them, and probably do the legends deal thing etc.
No doubt for his body he should stop wrestling soon, but a few surprise quick squashes and appearances with a couple moves in the next year or two would be fun. And of course, that Hall of Fame speech could be something.

No offence to the guy, but if I’d pay for an Undetaker Q&A and got Foley instead I’d be pissed.

I feel sorry for the guys at Inside the Ropes, this was a really big deal.

Hopefully this is just to get his own Network show, Deadman Walking, a travelogue where he experiences different countryside walks and samples the cultures of all the places he visits.

I read that he was still doing autographs and taking pictures
I love Foley but like another posted said, if I brought tickets then man I’d be beyond p****d
I’m gonna assume some partial refunds will be offered, considering what they were charging for Taker

Yeah, going from a top guy who's almost never broken kayfabe to one who has already written five lengthy books about his career and has done hundreds of interviews out of character isn't the best choice.
Interesting to see when and how WWE's "You must fulfill your prior commitments" edict is in effect.

This doesn’t mean that he is going to be wrestling, folks. Lets face it, even after he hangs it up WWE is going to keep him on payroll for the sake of using his image. Same as they do for The Rock and Steve Austin.

Did they think he might say something more controversial then they’d like so offered him a “Offer you can’t refuse” deal to keep him longer? It’d at least explain how he’s still able to do Starrcast because he might have negotiated for it for the deal.

I imagine his contract just ran out and they waited until Mania (when they'd all be in the same place) to talk out a new deal.

Sure but more fans are aware of Inside the Ropes interviews for that sort of thing then any of the others.

Pouring one out for the UK convention organizers that actually paid Undertaker's monstrous appearance rate.

Same as they do for The Rock and Steve Austin. To be clear, that's only for things like games and toys, though. For whatever reason, they need him under contract for those but not WWE Network or home video releases. I remember Hogan signed with TNA at the same time that WWE was releasing a DVD set of some of his rarer matches. They also released a set on Goldberg in 2013 when he had no deal with the company. Not sure why exactly that it works that way, but it does.

I think it’s as easy as that there are no royalties and likeness rights involved for a lot of wrestlers so using footage that’s theirs unless contractually they can’t is way easier than it would if you were to, say, do a Brad Pitt DVD boxset only for movies he was in from a certain studio.

"Why did they think you were an applicable replacement?"
"I have no answer for that.

WWE wrestlers get royalties for physical media (home video) but not from any other distribution methods (like the Network or WWE's YouTube channel). That includes talent that were once under WWE contract but aren't anymore. With the toys and games, though, it's different as every individual has to consent to take part. There was a WWE game a few years ago where you could recreate the Austin/Michaels match from WM 14, and Mike Tyson was replaced with a generic lookalike character called "The Enforcer."
