yes it is black tights, she even makes a hole for her mouth on air Also I know it's a minor thing but the impression (as in mannerisms) isn't very good either Yeah, saw it on a channel 4 show about stuff that used to get on TV, also had 10 year olds in their underwear on Blue Peter and a presenter taking a photo for his private collection.... The impressions just looked like generic comedy mammie voice and pratting around. yeah I saw them shows, they had ones for other decades, scary what was acceptable

While Revenge of the Nerds was quite rapey let us not forget it was also horribly racist. Swing Lo, Sweet Chariot scene anyone? At least in that one they were showing that Lewis doing that was beyond f***ing dumb. Everything else in it though, well, it was beyond not PC, it was full of felonies. The verse in Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" with the repeated gay slurs. ...which of course is now cut from most radio plays. And yet, the classic rock station here will sometimes play it unedited.

Not sure if anyone has heard of it internationally but there was an 80s British sitcom called 'Allo Allo'. Set during WW2 in occupied France its fondly remembered (you can probably find the lot on youtube if so inclined) but there's much that wouldn't fly today. Jokes about stereotypes of various European nations, their accents, the language barrier, one of the German troops being a closeted homosexual that's played for laughs, lots of cross dressing gags and the main running joke is the middle aged, doughy lead, the owner of the village cafe is irresistible to the stereotypical sexy French waitresses and resistance leaders. He sends them wild with desire and seduces them and is cruel to his middle aged wife as a result (remember this is the 'hero'). But the main reason why it wouldn't get made today is the Nazis. While clearly the antagonists and the ones who our 'hero' thwarts with his schemes the German characters are very humanised, even likeable at times and play more the 'bumbling fool' type of villain than the evilness we associate with Nazi Germany, I daresay any modern remake would have to make the German characters a lot more sinister (these aren't ordinary wartime Germans, they are rarely portrayed out of uniform). For all its problems I could still rewatch it, its setup is so silly its impossible to take it seriously. As bad as Allo Allo was, it's still better than Heil Honey, the Hitler themed sitcom from satellite Tv... Though I guess that doesn't really count, being from early 1990. Still, yikes though.

You Can't Do that On Television seemed to have a fascination of putting boys in dresses as a form of punishment, that or putting them in nothing but their underwear. Not to mention a ton of fat jokes about the girls.

Not in the musical, not in the "sequel." One of many reasons why neither was funny. I didn't know about the musical until recently, the clips I saw didn't seem great As someone who has sat through/survived the musical, I can confirm it's an absolute abortion. If I'm remembering correctly, there's a pretty problematic scene in the musical with Native Americans.

What's scary is HHIH would be accepted more now, what with Family Guy humor, and the popularity of Downfall parodies on YouTube.

Trading Places and Dan Aykroyd in blackface. The thing with Trading Places is that the whole plot revolved around taking down old racist guys.

Every other 80s pop/rock song was about borderline stalking women or otherwise harassing them.

Would Rowdy Roddy Piper attacking Jimmy Snuka with a coconut count? That and 75%+ of pro wrestling at the time. At least in America, I dont think Japan or Mexico engaged in "questionable" angles.

Dr. Wagner Jr. fought a real cat in one skit (if you're sensitive about animal treatment in fiction). Over in Japan...they had Jose Gonzalez attack Onita with a knife or some sharp object.

You Can't Do that On Television seemed to have a fascination of putting boys in dresses as a form of punishment, that or putting them in nothing but their underwear. Not to mention a ton of fat jokes about the girls. Most of the skits on YCDTOTV with the parents involved putting the kids through Meg Griffin levels of abuse. In the school scenes, the teacher's name was Mr. Schidtler. And then there were the firing squad skits, which involved both racial stereotypes and the theme of killing kids.

They used to play 'Allo 'Allo every once in a while on a Canadian kids network after midnight to fill time... along with the Young Ones and Bottom. Is there a DVD set for 'Allo 'Allo out there? Allo Allo is available on one set. It’s part of this series called “shite and terribly dated British comedies that for some reason are popular worldwide”. Along with Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances. Give me Allo, Allo over any Gervais comedy show any day.
