I'm interested to know which shows you've gone to with a match or more where a strange replacement was made.
I would say 1994 January Baltimore arena having Men on a Mission face Axl and Ian Rotten! Axl and Ian replaced the Quebeccers. I'm guessing since the Rotten's were local they may have been on the ring set up crew and when the original team couldn't make it they had them. You'd think WWF could at least find the Heavenly Bodies, Well Dunn, Headshrinkers or any make shift heel singles to make a team.

House show in 1990 had Jimmy Snuka vs. Greg Valentine advertised. Would have been more awesome five years earlier, but still a match I was interested in seeing.
We got to the show and Valentine is not on the printed program sheet. Instead it's "Spike Jones." Never heard of the guy. Just some heavy jobber dude with a moustache. But they kept the match in the same spot on the card as if he was somebody he should care about.
We figured since Snuka was now facing a jobber that it would be a squash and we'd get to see the Superfly splash off the top. No dice. Snuka was phoning it in. They had a short but plodding match where Jones got in way more offense than he should have, and Snuka won with a reverse crossbody out of the corner. So lame.

ROH "Unscripted" (9.21.02 - Philadelphia, PA)
Paul London was scheduled to team with Spanky (Brian Kendrick) in a tournament to crown the first ROH Tag Team Champions, but at the start of the show London came out and said Spanky wasn't there (he was in Japan working for Zero1), so London brought out a last minute partner Bryan Danielson. immediately after Danielson came out, Michael Shane came out to bitch about not being London's tag partner (since he beat London at the previous show), so London attacks him, then says he's out of the tournament so he can face Shane in a Street Fight.
what started out as Spanky & London teaming up to try to become the first tag champs ended with London's last minute partner having to find a last minute partner to compete in a tournament they were never scheduled to be in, which they subsequently made it to the finals of
also, "Unscripted II" in 2006. what do you do when TNA orders all their contracted wrestlers to skip the show because of a blizzard? bring in a WWE contracted wrestler, CM Punk

Matt Riddle's Bloodsport Low Ki becomes Minoru Suzuki. Low Ki pretends this is a downgrade. Off topic but Low Ki demanded more money to have a training camp to get ready for Matt Riddle. A training camp for a fake wrestling match. That’s a new one.

When I was a kid, I went to a house show where the advertised main event was going to be Rick Rude vs. Randy Savage...
Randy no-showed and we got Superstar Billy "Old Man Yells At Cloud For Not Being On Steroids" Graham instead.

This is one of the best excerpts from any Chris Jericho book: "... that The Rock was not going to be there but Chris Jericho would be wrestling instead. Eight thousand fans farted in unison. ..."

WWF, Morristown Nj, 1993. Owen Hart was advertised against Jim Powers. Owen didn’t make it and was replaced by some short, fat guy named The Tazmaniac. Wonder what ever happened to that jobber?

I never got my D’Lo Brown vs Steve Blackman match at a house show in 1999. I know that sounds rather odd to complain about, but I was a D’Lo fan at the time. Sure, all the big stars were there so I should be happy but what’d we get? TIGER ALI SINGH VS DROZ.
Oh and 123 Kid being replaced by Virgil of all people against PCO at a house show in 1995. Everybody was like WTF when Virgil’s theme hit. All 1,000 of us

We had a special house show event in Sioux Falls in 2002 in which Brock Lesnar came over to the Raw crew just for the one show with it being 2 hours away from his hometown. It was Lesnar/HHH in a champion vs. champion match (Think Lesnar's belt was the only one on the line technically). The next night in Rapid City, Lesnar was off the show and the main event was HHH vs. Bubba Ray Dudley.
Should also add to this that Bubba was a sub for Booker T in a tag match in Sioux Falls that same night. It was Lance Storm/Christian vs. Goldust/Bubba in a special 2/3 falls match.

95 TV tapping with a lot of dark matches with star vs. star since the TV matches where against jobbers. Cage match main event between Diesel vs. Sid. Sid was announced hurt. His replacement Yokozuna (The match was found on that recent WWE unreleased set). Now what made it more crazy that this was also Yoko's THIRD match of the night. He had already did a tag team squash for TV. And a tag match against Luger and Bulldog.

Survivor Series '88. The Jobber Takeover. I came here to post this example. If memory serves, on Jake’s team Scott Casey replaced B.Brian Blair who replaced Don Muraco who replaced JYD. Casey probably couldn’t believe his luck...
