Wow! That was a really good video. I've never heard of the show before but it seems like something I would've loved as a kid.

Opening Theme/Animation was awesome. Toys were pretty neat, hey a kid's imagination could get a lot of mileage out of heavily armed space cowboy... Show itself was... odd?

I hate hate hate the "Cowboys, but in Space" concept so much. Why? I am just curious and you don't have to reply, of course.

I hate hate hate the "Cowboys, but in Space" concept so much. I think it's a pretty cool blending of two genres (at least as a concept).

Cowboy's in Space works best with shows like Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, and Outlaw Star. Less extent Trigun. That said I thought I was entering a thread about the Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

Doesn't matter if it was this, Bravestarr, Rio Blast from MOTU or the like. I think DC had a couple of '60s heroes with that trope. I'd say the idea of civilizations a thousand light years away or a thousand years into the future deciding to take up every aspect of a brief, 50 year time period from one country from one planet to either emulate - or just somehow coincidentally create - a near-identical culture that would by every aspect make life more difficult for beings with interplanetary travel and technology beyond ours is ludicrous. I'd say that, but I like much stupider things, so it can't just be that. Either way, can't stand 'em.

I don't hate the idea on a conceptual level, but I do think the whole "Space Western" genre has been pretty over-exposed. Especially back in the 80's. It really felt like back then creators were just saying "damn, kids today really "the Star Wars", but I grew up on westerns, how am I supposed to write something they'd watch?" (we'll ignore the fact that Lucas was heavily inspired by Westerns when making Star Wars). And it wasn't like they were doing anything all that creative with the concept, just take a basic staple of westerns like horses, add some science fictiony hook to it and give us something uninspired like "robo-horses".

I'm glad they exist, I'm glad they have fans. Would suck if everyone liked the exact things I did. I really did like TG's video on the topic, I love toy and toon history.

Like, space having a wild west sort of attitude, rather than "let me reach for my space lasso".

I dunno, I think a space lasso does work. It could be a neat weapon in a sci-fi setting. It's the space horses and what not... Or when you have like a space saloon that literally looks like an ol timey saloon that is kind of strange. Like that one movie Oblivion. And in cases like that it only works when its 100 percent camp.
But yeah, "wild west attitude" definitely works in sci-fi and fantasy settings.
