Not including characters like the Honeymooners mice. I'm talking about things like The Brain obviously being Maurice LaMarche's impression of Orson Welles.

In Tazmania, Taz's dad being Bing Crosby and his uncle being Bob Hope, and then in Hysteria, Socrates being Bing Crosby and George Washington being Bob Hope.
This will probably turn into a Maurice LaMarche thread.

It's very weird to be a kid who watches the Flintstones and then to see an old episode of the Honeymooners.

Seeing anything with Groucho Marx or Peter Lorre as a kid is jarring, because then you realize a shitload of characters are shameless copies of them.

Probably the Brain being based off Orson Welles, honestly.

My grandparents made sure I was familiar with many old time actors like W.C. Fields, Groucho Marx, Humphrey Bogart, and the like. I'm not sure what the first cartoon voice I caught on to was, but it was probably either the monkey that talked like Bogart on Shirt Tales, or the cats that talked like Abbott & Costello on Looney Tunes.
On a somewhat related note, I remember watching a wrestling-themed Bugs Bunny cartoon with a wrestler called "The De-Natured Boy," and - knowing that Looney Tunes was from the '40s and '50s, but being unaware of Buddy Rogers's existence - thinking "Damn, I didn't know Ric Flair was that old!"

So I watched a couple episodes of Robotech episodes on Netflix recently, deciding to watch it after so many years. And right as I heard Rick Hunter/Hikaru Ichijyo, I was like, "Wait a second. I know that voice. That's Lupin the Third!!"
So I went back and looked, and of course, Lupin and Rick from Robotech share the same voice actor.

Probably Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons being pretty clearly based on Jack Kennedy.

Probably Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons being pretty clearly based on Jack Kennedy. For me it was Raphael, the sarcastic man of many professions, being a clear vocal parody of Charles Branson.

Shipwreck from GI Joe. Even as a kid, who took an awful long while to connect the Flintstones and the Honeymooners, I knew that was Jack Nicholson.

Probably Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons being pretty clearly based on Jack Kennedy. Tecbnically it is based on comedian Vaughn Meader whose album "The First Family" was a massive hit and who had a great run until November of 1963.

(Like, the moment he heard the news that day, from a cabbie IIRC, he knew his career was 100% over.)

The story goes Lenny Bruce opened his first set after JFK was assassinated by saying "Vaughn Meader is f***ed.".

This will probably turn into a Maurice LaMarche thread. Slightly off topic: I met Maurice this weekend. He even quoted Frozen Peas to me after I told him I play it for my students. On topic: Zoidberg is based on a combination of George Jessel and Lou Jacobi and Prof Farnsworth is Frank Morgan with a bit of Burgess Meredith. Wakko Warner is Jess Harnell doing an intentionally exaggerated Ringo Starr.
