Checking out some of his stuff before I started watching again in 2016, and man, never would've guessed he had the kind of charisma that he's been able to show with New Day.
So, how'd it have gone if New Day never happened? I envision a path similar to Rusev with a Reverend D'von 2.0 type run sprinkled in somewhere.

MORE AGGRESSIVE FLAG WAVING! ![](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/BadFearfulChimpanzee-size_restricted.gif) That said Vince was apparently thinking of making E the new face of the company until HHH convinced him Roman was the way to go. I imagine he'd be in a pretty decent midcard slot... with random flashes of his personality coming through like the aformentioned Flag WAving.

Probably rotting on Main Event. He was pretty much going nowhere fast.

They tended to protect him more often than not, like Orton having to eye rake him to get the RKO when they had their match. He's also a friend of Cena's, so I am sure they'd want to keep him around. Then again, its' kinda hard to tell where he'd be, given he's been in New Day for so long, but it would probably be a lower position than he is now, not being allowed to show the same kind of humor and getting less mic time.

Probably a similar career trajectory as Rusev. He would have gotten something inadvertently over and nothing would have been done with it.

He’d have ended up in a tag team albeit one that didn’t allow him to show as much personality, Rusev, Cersaro level.
The others would have been in more trouble Woods would struggle to attract Vince’s attraction as a singles guy due to size and Kofi was in a real rut, filling the “I keep losing even though I try really really hard” hole before leaving it for Ziggler to make his own.

Kofi would almost certainly be one of the dreaded local men at this point.

He was definitely going nowhere, but I did recently watch an IC title match between he and Fandango on Raw from December 30th, 2013, and I thought it was actually a pretty damn good forgotten match. He always had something, he just needed to prove it to people with the right platform and the right group.

Yeah, he wasn't really doing a lot. He may have gotten a few start-stop pushes. But more likely he would just be on C shows if even around still.

I'm genuinely curious what a universe where Vince decided to push Big E instead of Roman would look like. Would the New Day ever have come about? Would Roman be loved? Would Big E be hated? A multiple world champion?

A multiple world champion? I'd assume we'd get mostly emotionless Big E getting pushed... and he'd be called boring and people would continue to see his social media stuff and ask why the hell he's not doing that on screen.

I think Vince would have pushed him for his appearance and not charisma he would have failed to get super serious muscle guy over and been dropped down and forgot about.

A multiple world champion? I'd guess that he'd get his fair share of boos but not nearly to the degree Roman did. Roman was just about completely rejected by audiences before his Leukemia. Big E is just better than Roman at most aspects of professional wrestling, and he'd probably be afforded some freedom as the top guy to show some of his real personality. With the brand split barely existing, *now* would be the time to push E as a top guy (while still a New Day member). Imagine Kofi drops the belt then tells E that it's "his time now". It'd piggyback off the best story the WWE has told in years while creating a new main eventer.

It’s weird how almost anyone else that gets something over is sabotaged in some way, but the New Day did it, were turned heel and made the faces of the division.

When New Day broke the tag team title reign record, they had a Youtube-only interview, where they outright said if the team hadn't worked out, Xavier was gonna be fired, Big E would have gone down to NXT and then probably run out his contract there. So in all likelihood, Big E lingering around, leaves developmental, and if he had the passion to keep going, hit the indies, where I see him honestly getting pretty damn over being able to open up and cut loose with the personality he showed. In all likelihood we'd see Creep E booked for Double or Nothing.

I remember someone tweeting E that he should go singles again, and E replied "Why? So I can be miserable again instead of having the time of my life hanging out with my friends?"

It’s weird how almost anyone else that gets something over is sabotaged in some way, but the New Day did it, were turned heel and made the faces of the division. My theory is that it's because they got over while still using Vince's idea for the gimmick. Yeah, his idea is 97% gone, but just as long as Vince can tell people "I made the NEW DAY DAMMIT" it has his personal stamp of approval.
