I've heard of this happening around Atlanta so to see it happening here isn't surprising. It's a scary world out here. EDIT: Edited the thread with Kayla's breakdown. Yep, that's one way how they get people. Read a few stories about that happening. It's been happening way too much.

It might be that or shady unlicensed taxi people trying to undercut competition which happens a lot in this area of America. Either way, it's scary.

IDK about lyft but Uber lists the name and license plate number of the driver on the app.
But still this is something straight out of the bone collector.

I still can't believe that everything we were taught as kids about not accepting rides from strangers is a totally normal thing to do as an adult.
I don't use ride shares. Only time I have is when I'm with a group of friends.

Also the driver will be given your name, and you theirs, so you can check ahead.

Some people though have no choice to use thing like Uber or Lyft like myself I have seizures so either I walk or use it because its way cheaper than taxis. Ride sharing is honestly way more safer than a taxi you know who you're getting, the color make and model of the car, how long your trip will be, an option to contact the driver, even an option to call the police.

Besides having the make, model, plate # as well as usually a picture of the driver...
if you don't want to check all of that... Do not ask if they are your uber... ask them who they are looking for.
The actual ride share driver will know because they get your name too.

This is why I don't trust Uber or Lyft. So easy to get in a really bad situation.

Yeah, this seems less like these people are master deceivers and more like people aren't using common sense when using these apps.

This almost happened to Harley Smith a couple of years ago out in LA. Fortunately she knew better and didn't get in.
Sadly, I think a college girl from around this area did get into a fake ride sharing driver's car a few months ago down south and got killed.

I don't believe it, or believe that maybe it was someone elses ride that mistook her for their fare and she found it a good opportunity to post it to social networks. Honestly theres so many fail safes when it comes to getting an Uber or Lyft that you almost need to try to get abducted. I know it's happened. But you get the picture, the make and model of the car and the license plate in addition to the app telling you basically when theyre turning the corner to get you.

Taxis and their drivers are generally subject to more regulations and have to be registered with a municipal authority. Taxi companies have to maintain records of who's driving under them. Uber and Lyft don't face these restrictions in many locales, and will undercut the licensed cabs. The more horror stories we get like this, the more pressure municipalities will face, either to ban Uber and Lyft altogether, or to force them under the same regulatory umbrella as the licensed taxi companies.

I mean I can watch via GPS where they are on my phone. See their license plate, model of car, and picture. As well as their service record from other riders.

That's kind of what i was hinting at in my "did she tell cops"? Thing. Airport tends to have bagboys, cameras, busses i.e witnesses. Hop out (she did) go tell security this car that left tried to abduct me. Theyll pour over airport security cameras (which there are maaaaannnny) theyll see the plate. Boom. You stopped a dexter villain! Or it was a misunderstanding, you over reacted and wanted social media points. Ya know, one of those 2 things happened.
