Would the MitB ending be worth it?
I say yes. The bit of momentum he was building before his injury is gone, and personal opinions aside, beating Brock is a huge deal.
Ali is perfect for the underdog role. Everyone who faces Brock is the underdog, but this is a guy who just came up from the Cruiserweight division and has nothing on his resume. He'd be the underest of underdogs, which would make his victory all the more rewarding.

I have absolutely zero faith in the WWE to book this in a way that would maximize the benefits it could give Ali or being able to maintain Ali after the fact and not relapse into doing something dumb with him that ultimately wastes the benefits he'd get.
See Seth Rollins beating Brock since subtly being retconned to essentially be a fluke.

This is kind of a foolishly optimistic hypothetical to try and get the taste of that dogshit finish out of my mouth.

So I watched the Chronicle episode featuring Ali's build to the Money in the Bank match, and they foreshadowed FIERCELY at the end that he was going to be the last guy left in the match until something out of the blue got to him. I highly doubt he beats Brock, but maybe Brock might let him have a decent match given all the stuff he's being doing with smaller guys these days.
