Great stuff. Pollock is a true pro; he should be the heir to the wrestling journalism throne.

Wow he go some really viewpoints that I never expected like the stuntmen and a random fan who gave Owen a ride.
Man, the WWE went cheap bastards because they didn’t like visual of how long it took to take off the safer harness. On the other hand, Owen really didn’t bother with the run throughs. Maybe they would have caught what a bad idea it was if they practiced it a couple dozen times beforehand

I still can’t believe this happened.

When I was younger the whole "the show must go on" mentality made sense to me.
Now I can't wrap my head around it.
This was a great listen and I highly recommend everyone to take the time to check it out. It's well worth it.

I still can’t believe this happened. I still can't believe such a stupid, pointless and dangerous stunt was even approved in the first place. All that for a shitty comedy bit on a B-level PPV that no one would have given a flying f*** about even if it had worked as planned.

Why did they want to do it? What was the point? The random confluence of events that just seem so baffling, and ended up with a young father dying in a tragic accident.

As far as I'm aware, the plan was for Owen to be lowered down to the ring but get stuck and dangle over the ring, or some other shit.
He died for that.

The idea being that The Blue Blazer was a “bad superhero” character. I can’t believe the segment was only supposed to be for the live crowd too. If you remember correctly, there was a promo for the match being played. So we wouldn’t have even seen the “stunt” on TV.

I just looked and this is available through all podcast streaming apps. I use Overcast and it is there.

Once a year or so I'll have an urge (Usually at like 3 AM unable to sleep) to check out all the Owen news clips on YouTube, and the crazy audio from the Spanish commentary. I don't know why but it's still such a huge thing in my memory, that I always have had this draw to looking stuff up about it to this day. I remember getting on the school bus the next morning, first grade I believe but it was weird how EVERYONE was talking about wrestling and not like the usual 2-3.

Of a lot of the wrestler deaths this just felt one of the most avoidable, he died what for?
A pointless stunt that would have been forgotten by Raw the next night if it had gone right, most people would have forgot about it until they rewatched the event on the Network
I remember staying up to watch the event live, I could just tell by Jerry's face when he came back to the announce booth, that he knew it wasn't good, and when they came back to JR and Lawler to deliver the news, I could tell it was going to be bad news but still hoped for the best.
Raw, the next night, was such, a difficult show to watch, moreso then the Eddie tribute shows for me anyway, maybe because I was 16 it was that much more difficult to process.
People can hate on Martha but her husband was killed, the kids lost a Father, would you blame anybody else widowed in a similar situation?

Great, great piece by JoPo. He's done a few of these types of pieces and they're always fantastic.
I can't believe I never thought of the possibility that the arena was an active crime scene and should have been evacuated for that reason.

Vince threatening to fire him if Owen did not do the stunt made me sick.
I used to think he was a good dude, but after hearing this and the whole Ashley thing, I truly believe he is just a terrible human being. Bottom-line>>>>Anyone's well-being
