They tried redoing it with Edge a couple years later, but I feel like the only thing that can surpass it is an Ambrose or Punk rumble return/victory

Definitely Punk. If it was time for #30 and Cult of Personality hit, the place would lose their collective shit.

Especially considering that he was underpushed (for a guy his talent) his first run and he would immediately return in a world title match at mania

And another point, I think Dean will be back one day. Nobody thinks/thought Punk will return.

Punk would.
I think Kenny Omega would if you did it in the right town.

They could have done it with Roman if they had been more patient after his comeback from leukemia.

I love the Cena surprise, but honestly I feel like AJ debuting topped it already. But I'm probably very biased because I watched the 2016 Rumble live. I'm sure I would have flipped if I saw Cena's return as it happened.

Kharma in 2012 was the only one since that has came close. (But she didn't win or even last very long, so that holds less historic value.)

I’d venture to say AJ already did it with his debut.

I dunno, man. That Cena surprise was nuts. Not one person was expecting it.

Punk or Austin would get those reactions. Moxley I could see, but it'd have to be in 3 or 4 years. If he were to return in the 2020 Rumble he'd still get a nice pop, but I doubt the crowd would lose its shit like they did when Cena came out.

I’d venture to say AJ already did it with his debut. At least we got to see what Roman thought of that surprise. I don’t think anyone tops the Cena return.

I think AJ STYLES APPEARING IN THE WWE is way more shocking than Cena returning from injury earlier than everyone thought. AJ coming was huge at the time and something most of us thought we'd never see.

I think AJ STYLES APPEARING IN THE WWE is way more shocking than Cena returning from injury earlier than everyone thought. AJ coming was huge at the time and something most of us thought we'd never see. But most people who were familiar with AJ had heard he buzz that he was coming in, and while a surprise I think it wa smitigated a bit. Despite the camera hitch it was pretty awesome. There’s even a bunch of good reaction videos on YouTube. I think Punk is all we have left. It would be bigger if he came in at #31. Have a disappointing #30 come in and have a room full of the genetics that nobody wants. Once you get the countdown from 10 AFTER 30 you’re expecting something huge
