Really good interview. Always a fan of interviews where it's a casual atmosphere. Lot of new information and clarity. Sounds like Cody is going to be drawing back from the wrestler role and more executive.

Some running thoughts on this interview, so, spoilers? I guess?:
2 hours, live, would be damn cool.
I got a laugh out of the belt bit, where Cody's talking about people wanting him to push back and call it a belt instead of championship or title, but that he's always been fine with it.
Marvel, as Cody looks for his phone.
The bit about ladder height is good, and I liked his poking fun at the 24/7 belt by way of not mocking it, just saying that beauty was in the eye of the beholder. Is pretty gracious towards WWE, saying that he'd like to think he's on good terms with WWE but that likely that is no longer the case.
That Dustin's match is not specifically a retirement match, but it is "probably" his final match. "We'll see."
Hangman Page is still "full gear ready", and that he is not weighing in at Starrcast like some of the wrestlers will. Will be at Double or Nothing, but that it's a "mystery" what he will be doing,
They have a plan going forward, that Nick Jackson stresses they have to go with what's hot even if it clashes with the plan, and Double or Nothing is going to be a launching point for everything, which, obviously we knew as much.
Cody owning up to "there are no faces or heels" tweet being stupid. "WHAT A DUMB THING TO TWEET!" That the construct of face and heel, good guy or bad guy, is still going to be a thing, that he was more trying to say that stuff like "I'm a heel, I don't sign autographs" is stupid in a world where you can google Bully Ray and see him holding a cat and loving animals and having a radio show. Guess he just means they want a little more nuance.
Talks about what Tony Khan brings to things, and that the want wins and losses to be stressed in the whole winner's purse thing, wants to avoid 50/50 booking, and to commit to pushing people, but that they may have presented things as overcomplicated with the press release, that it's not going to be hard to follow or overly technical.
Says that, when asked how he will balance being a wrestler and a booker, that he will not, that one will have to win out, and that his ego has been in check, with him wanting to examine if moves are self-serving or not. Also, that he has taken a real shine to being an executive and enjoys having an office, that he's always been a wrestler and never had a "job". He enjoys it, but that he must remember that fans will only be able to judge his performance by what goes on in the ring, and the importance of that.
They've had 6 months to prepare for one show, but that the big challenge will be having much less time going forward after, and that he is young and does not have a family yet, just dogs, so he thinks he can handle the grind.
His mother keeps him in check by reminding him often, "you're only as good as your last match", and very harsh and honest. "She'll be watching on Saturday, and I can't screw it up, or she'll let me know." He got her at All In. "She hasn't watched anything since." Amusing.
Talks about the sensory-inclusive push for the show, giving credit to Brandi for heading that and saying his mom approved in a big way.
Says the number one question he's been asked since the announcement of AEW changes a lot, mostly focuses on what talents people are thrown their way, but without naming WWE specifically, says WWE has all the talent in the world and not enough time in the day to put focus on them, that he wants to avoid it. Cites CM Punk early on as someone people kept asking about, Sasha Banks more recently, and Randy Orton. Says Orton is probably liking tweets of his in part to troll for a reaction out of people.
Says the locker room bands together more than ever nowadays, and he says the executive types in wrestling serve a function that the "cowboys and pirates" that are wrestlers need, but that when there are too many, and they're flying in first class and the Cesaros are stuck in the back, that it's unacceptable, and that Matt Jackson puts a lot of focus on locker room morale, that wrestlers are friends who are looking out for each other, guys and girls alike.
Confirms that there will be pyro at the show, that he will be inspecting it this evening. Is very confident in the show, and that it will be catered towards the fans, and that it simply would not be a show for fans if it did not have some surprises.
