And there it is: most asinine use of hyperbole I've seen on the matter If Goodell wasn't kissing Brady's ass, he was putting chapstick on to get ready to kiss Belichick's. Kissing Bradys ass? Did you even pay attention to deflategate?

Only Pats fans can really find a whole bunch of plausible deniability in all of that I said what I said. They got away with it. Nothing substantial happened to them and they kept winning Habitual line steppers Again, please tell me how they "got away with it," how "nothing substantial happened." The Patriots lost two first-round picks in a 10-year time frame, a sentence that had never before been handed down in NFL history and has never happened since. They also lost a fourth-round pick in 2017 and are scheduled to lose a third-round pick in 2021. The team also had its star quarterback suspended for a quarter of the season in 2016. Again, remind me how all of that is "nothing substantial." Those penalties, to lesser teams with lesser talent on the field and in the front office, would have been crippling. But the Patriots, just generally being better than the other 31 franchises, were able to overcome them. The penalties weren't deemed severe enough because of the latter part of your sentence: they kept winning. They won in spite of the bulls**t fines and suspensions and loss of draft picks.

If Cam Newton starts for the Patriots this season he'll be the first QB not drafted by the Patriots to start for them since November 1993

Because man, if this happened in any other sport the punishment would have been far more harsh. Look at what happened to the Astros what do you think happens if they get caught cheating again? The NFL allowed this shit to go on and on by not making the punishment a harsh enough deterrent.

They lost multiple picks, including 2 first rounders and millions of dollars, the coach was fined a half million and Brady missed 4 games. They got nailed because they win. Take a gander at some of the nonsense the Steelers have been involved in over the last decade and tell me that if they were the ones with multiple titles in that timeframe that they wouldn't have gotten hit the same way the Patriots did

If you punish your kid for the same shit 4 different times and he keeps doing it you consider that he needs a harsher punishment cause obviously he doesn't give a shit about the last one.

At this point it is like one of the Dave Chappelle R Kelly skits
In order for me to believe the Pats cheated, I need Bill on camera holding his ID in front of the camera saying he's cheating, with the video camera in his hand, five of his friends to witness it and his grandmother there to confirm the whole thing

It is a roundabout argument The Pats cheated. No, they didn't and if they did they got the maximum punishment But the maximum punishment is shit and didn't stop them from doing it again. So what, it is the max What about being a repeat offender? They never cheated so they can't repeat what they didn't do MLB and NFL have their own problems with how they deal with this shit and it starts with the commissioner's

In football you can get roided up suspended or not, cheat etc and no one really cares.

They literally did not get a free pass. They were fined heavily and docked several picks.

You know how you know that delfategate was a farce? The league collected PSI DATA all throughout 2015 and when this was done, we were all told the results would be released for full transparency
That never happened. The NFL has more leaks than the Titanic. If those numbers proved the Patriots absolutely cheated, we would have had them the very second it was known. Instead, the data was destroyed.
Nope, nothing to see here.

Not all cheating is the same. What the Astros did would be like... if an NFL team hacked into the radio of the other team and would tell their players on the field what the other team was calling. If that happened in the NFL I'm not entirely sure the team would still exist. The Franchise would still exist probably, but everybody involved from Coaches to players would get harshly punished if not expelled. If the owner was involved they'd flat out take the team away from them.

By fans, writers, media, etc. Baseball is considered sacrosanct by its writers/media and fans. I'm not even sure which is worse, the complete disregard for the integrity of the sport or taking it way too seriously. No one is saying the Pats didn't get punished, but they've been doing it consistently, without any sort of damage to their value as an organization. That's why they keep doing it. And believe me, they'll do it again as long as Bill is there. Then another slap on the wrist. Rinse and repeat.

They never cheated so they can't repeat what they didn't do MLB and NFL have their own problems with how they deal with this shit and it starts with the commissioner's Spygate: Yes, the Patriots were wrong for what they did. They were caught and warned about it in 2006 during a game against the Packers but they continued to toe the line. So when they got caught in 2007, the NFL came down on them with the hammer of the stiffest penalties in league history. Deflategate: There's plenty of science to debate whether this even happened. But let's just say it did, that the Patriots were intentionally deflating footballs by a half PSI. As I've already explained, tampering with footballs or equipment had previously landed the Chargers, Vikings, and Panthers either verbal warnings or $20,000 fines. Somehow, this turned into a two-year-long odyssey involving multiple levels of the judicial system, player suspensions, million-dollar fines, and losses of first-round draft picks for the Patriots. Bengals video tape: This isn't cheating and I'm fascinated to hear anyone try to spin it as such. During the course of a six-month investigation, the NFL produced no evidence tying the videographer or the entertainment team to Bill Belichick, the Patriots, or the football operations. The cameraman wore a Boston Bruins sweatshirt and positioned himself filming B-roll for a documentary in the press box in front of 20 Bengals staff members. If that's being sneaky or underhanded, it's the worst possible way of going about it. It would be like trying to cheat on your spouse by taking your fling to dinner at your wife's parents' house.

It'll never happen. Dan Snyder will force the name to stay as long as he owns the team.
