Between this thread and skimming through the Double or Nothing thread, I’ve come to realize there are a lot of people that don’t realize how much Wrestling there is out there for us to consume. If you were impressed with something like this, I really encourage you to seek out other companies. There’s live shows happening virtually every weekend somewhere near you, with awesome talent. Go support them. Double or Nothing is the first one with good production and easy access for me.

A strong 8/10.
Good balance across the card, with some decent highs for a debut PPV.
Job well done.

Go support them. I watch NXT, ROH and Impact faithfully. Catch NJPW and MLW when I can but I have a full time job, a girlfriend and a life. I'm a Bay Area resident so APW and BTW are my local indies and both bring in big name talent pretty consistently, I attend their shows a few times a year. So I consume a TON of wrestling. With all that being said, Double or Nothing was a 9/10.

9/10. It wasn't the most amazing or perfect show ever but it felt like a show meant to show off what people love about wrestling and how great it can be. Everything in there felt good and fun and the only real problem the show had was a timekeeper botch. It had different styles and matches and tones, and it even redeemed the Rhodes vs. Rhodes match that stunk so bad in WWE a few years ago but here was just great. For show #1 of a promotion, it was really as good as anyone could have asked for.

Voted a 9/10. From top to bottom you had solid matches and great moments. Only thing stopping it from being a perfect 10 was minor issues like production and the fact it was their first show and they're still finding their footing. But it's a step forward for wrestling in general and I'm glad I got my money's worth.

9/10. The one drawback for me were some of the feed drops, but there wasn’t anything that I could truly consider “bad wrestling”. The Rhodes match was a classic bloody old school brawl, the Aja Kong six-woman rocked (she’s still got it), Chuckie T was out of his mind, Bucks vs. Luchas was as amazing as you’d expect, and Jericho/Omega plus Moxley debuting was a lot of fun.

Easily a 9. As others have said productions issues, and some announcer issues (calling Jericho, Generico...), and I wasn't a huge fan of all the decisions (did BTE have to win almost everything?) but it was a LOT of fun, and the almost 5 hours total flew by. Some more thoughts on the entire show here! youtu.be/Rka2nGqNS3MAlso I apologize to my neighbors for how I reacted when Awesome Kong came out.

I'm surprised no one feuding with Jericho has ever called him "Chris Generico" to give him a taste of his own medicine. As for Double or Nothing, 9/10. The only issues I had with it were: *The joshi match not being advertised earlier in the show, making people think that it was cancelled. *Pentagon's armbreaker being nerfed outside of LU like it was at ALL IN against Omega. *Colored lights on the crowd like WWE does. *Triple "Ah" *Jericho botching in an otherwise-good main event. That aside, still a highly enjoyable show, especially with the Moxley/Omega brawl at the end. I hope AEW's next PPVs are much cheaper than $50 in the future.

A really solid 8/10 for me.
About as good as a first show you can have really- very good with plenty of room for improvement, in all areas. I saw DON as the bridge between All In/Being the Elite and the AEW promotion as a whole.
You also establish some of the main non-BTE players, put over both the tag and womens divisions, and set up the first World Title match.
Cody/Dustin was MOTN for me, and one of the best emotional matches I've seen in a long time. If that's an indication in how AEW are going to weave storylines, characters and emotions into matches then count me the f*** in.
Bucks/Lucha Bros. and the Joshi tag match were also great. Main event was a little bit of a letdown, but then I wasn't crazy about Jericho/Omega 2 being the main event of AEW's first PPV (I didn't enjoy their first encounter as much as I feel the consensus did).

9/10. Fabulous show.
Start with the cons, because there weren't many and they weren't that major: -production hiccups (most notably some camera angle flubs in Cody's entrance missing the pyro, and missing/mistiming cuts on spots in the Best Friends/Flippybois tag match) -Marvez added very little to commentary, the commentary didn't sell the Smash Bros debut well AT ALL (it just came off as genuine confusion to anybody who didnt know who they were rather than yknow, exciting chaos) -A couple of matches had some slightly sloppy moments (Yuka's late save and the ringbell screwup in the Joshi tag, Jericho & Omega redoing the DDT spot to get to the finish) -The music was a bit generic and a bit quiet on my stream, they need to get Jim Johnston in ASAP or collaborate with New Japan's crew as none of the new themes, Omega's included, stood out. Omega's felt so muted compared to Devil's Sky. Entrances help sell a character especially on first impression, and this stood out most in the Joshi tag- they all had pretty bland and indistinct music, which coupled with a quiet commentary during Riho/Ryo/Hikaru's entrance made it very hard to get a handle on some of the women as characters, all we really got was "they work hard, Riho debuted aged 8, Aja Kong is Aja Kong and Emi Sakura is another veteran".
And that's it. It was a blast, a really, really good show with no bad matches, no deadtime, a lot of variety and just all the little things that WWE has forgotten these days.
One overriding feeling I got repeatedly- for Daniels getting to open the PPV, for Chuck Taylor getting to really show how good he is, for Excalibur bringing commentary the way he has for over a deacde- was just a sense of being so damn happy for guys I've seen wrestle on tape in front of less than a hundred people in the past. For them to be on such a big stage and absolutely kill it was just so good to see.
I really did get the sense, during the Bucks/Lucha Bros tag and ESPECIALLY during the finish & aftermath of Jericho/Omega, this overriding feeling of "WCW is back, but the good WCW, the prime WCW, the WCW the child in me always wanted." Something about the presentation touches, even the camerawork, and logo on mat, the chaotic "we're going off-air just as it's got crazy" vibe, some feeling that wrestling is somehow whole again just hit me like a train as soon as Jericho got on the mic. All In offered a variety show of a bit of everything. This was a bit more streamlined- lacked the Janela hardcore or Lethal comedy- but still had such a mix of styles and flavours like prime WCW that gives it this global, larger than life feel. JR was rusty and lost his way once between matches, but he was the best hes sounded in over a decade and really turned me around as I was very wary when he got the gig. His evolution into an elder statesman colour commentator with a dash of sports coach is actually pretty great, here's a guy who's seen it all it makes sense that he's now got that veteran take. Meanwhile Excalibur adds legitimacy to the play-by-play with his sheer knowledge, his wit, his energy, the fact he's an ex wrestler himself....Just. Man. All it was missing was Tony Schiavone welcoming everyone and I would swear we were in some alternate timeline.
I really struggle to find any major faults with the show, and if they'd been able to do PAC/Page it would have had a genuine case for being one of the best PPVs of all time. Iron out the camerawork kinks and get some more punchy themes and their production levels will be everything you could ask for. Tons of fresh faces making a name for themselves. A smattering of ex-WWE faces with completely new life breathed into them. Great matches. Stories told in the ring, with the commentary accentuating it and crucially, covering for any missteps rather than trying to outdo each other with putdowns. I don't see how a wrestling fan could watch that show and come away not feeling excited. I'll damn sure be ordering again if they continue to be on FITE.

Still gotta watch the AAA tag match and Omega vs Jericho. But so far it gets a 5 from me. And most of that is cause of how good Dustin vs Cody was.
