I thought this was a huge mistake for his character. No he wasn't extremely over (he was still in Powers of Pain) but I just think having him eliminated in what? under a second? was a mistake
It just didnt make sense to me. You could have had him beat on Hogan a bit then Hogan eliminate him, that way it does build up Warlord a bit

There was probably two reasons for it: first being "anything can happen in this royal rumble" including a powerhouse like Warlord being eliminated in 2 seconds. Second reason would be to have Hogan look incredible. More people probably saw it as how awesome Hogan was versus how silly Warlord looked. The funniest thing about that rumble, to me, was that three teams got numbers back to back and Gorilla was so intent on making Dibiase buying a number a thing that he made mention of Twin Towers getting back to back numbers but totally forgot about Demoliton AND the Brain Busters getting back to back numbers.

Nothing to do with anything but the Warlord is one of my favorite wresters of all time. Dude was a beast.

If I'm not mistaken, Gorilla was harping on that because DiBiase bought #30 from Slick after Akeem originally drew it. It was the perfect storm of heel nefariousness (DiBiase buying the best shot AND just happening to have drawn the number right after Bossman to allow the Towers to eliminate Hogan)

It was kind of a puzzling booking decision to have one half of your heel monster tag team look like such a joke. I guess like jason1980's said it was probably just more a case of making Hogan more dominant by having him wipe out a huge guy so quickly like that.
For a big guy that was always pushed decent they did sure like to bury Warlord a lot when it came to PPV's. He was eliminated real quick in the 91 and 92 Rumbles by Hogan too (92 in a double team with Sid) after getting great draws in both (29 in 91 and 30 in 92). He was also pinned by JTTS Tito Santana in the grand finale match at 1990 in like 10 seconds (Hogan again played a role as he punched Warlord before the bell to set it up) which pretty much killed his singles push dead. Also even though he survived with the rest of the Visionaries they also even made him look like a dope in the match he was in earlier when he was DDTed and visual pinned by half blind Jake Roberts before Jake was counted out when he went after Martel. Maybe Hogan felt threatened by him and politicked to keep him down lol.
