Didn't this kind of happen to Jericho after debut in '99 as well? It may be hard to believe but Jericho had an overinflated opinion of himself. Then he got some heat for calling Taker boring (Taker was) and then not really delivering in the ring.

And now for the joke I can't believe I skipped...
Well, because of the Montreal Screwjob, because him and Bulldog weren't motivated when they came to WCW, because he didn't look as good in MC Hammer pants as Koko and Owen did...

Low Ki, literally everywhere he's ever worked except MLW for some reason You can replace Low Ki with Teddy Hart in that and it still applies. Court Bauer is like the jackass whisperer at this point. And Aries! And Swann! And Konnan! Why has Bauer been in wrestling purgatory for so long?

What the f*** was this about? Cena even then got booked to win mostly, but usually put people over DURING the matches, at least. He was just merciless with Corbin during this feud, it seemed so unnecessary. Yea, Cena at that point was putting people over but he almost went out his way to just bury Corbin as that killed his push until they gave him the US title a few months later Probably cause Cena saw that Corbin was / is useless and burying him would be no big loss. Sadly that trend didn't continue in spite of the fact that Corbin is still useless.

Then he got some heat for calling Taker boring (Taker was) and then not really delivering in the ring. Jericho even admits in his 2nd book that he got a lot of heat because if something didn't work he would improvise like he did in WCW and when he did that the people he improvised against got pissed. As for Big Show, according to Cornette he was in such bad shape that when he got sent to OVW for conditioning he had to work with the beginners class because he would puke just running the ropes. A lesser one, Shannon Moore was supposed to get a small push in ECW but he had a meltdown midmatch on a house show when the fans weren't cheering him saying he "wasn't there to please the internet" to the point they called an audible mid match to have him lose and then the infamous CM Punk slap. Also Mr Kennedy, while injury prone and also a bit dangerous in the ring, tended to lose a lot of steam because he would open his mouth at the worst time and make himself and the company look bad. Yeah he got busted for steroids but he wasn't the only one. The others pretty much were unscathed because they kept their mouth shut during the Benoit tragedy, and when it came out they had steriods they either kept their mouth shut, or said "yeah I had an injury and was prescribed it to help recover"

Supposedly Baron Corbin a few years ago when he won MITB Baron was basically the only choice to win and you can say he wasn't fully ready but they could have gave him a quick run. What came out was he was being a bit arrogant and Cena basically went out his way to shit on him during their whole feud in which Corbin lost his MITB and a squash to Cena at Summerslam Cena buried the dude DEEP. He was permanently damaged goods from that point on, which is why I don't understand why WWE insists on him taking up like a full hour-plus of RAW every week. It’s funny because now I’d venture a guess he’s very well liked backstage based on his constant push and stuff like HHH seeking him out to Super Soak him at the HoF.

He's frequently on UpUpDownDown too. He actually seems like a cool enough guy away from wrestling. This might be a Reigns sort of scenario where the guy himself is so well liked he keeps getting pushed despite his character not being over in the slightest.

I thought Corbin stood up and called the doctor out on his bullshit. Maybe bad timing, but it seemed like Corbin was in the right in that scenario.
