The only way it could be bad is if it flops horrendously, thus increasing the WWE's stranglehold on North America, and the complacent way they approach that. Any level of competition and alternative to the WWE is good. For fans and wrestlers, who will gain power simply by having the option of going somewhere else. Yeah, that’s the only way this could be a bad thing. If they manage to collapse to a point where their mistakes are so massive it keeps networks and advertisers from wanting to deal with any none WWE wrestling again. Kinda like what happened to TNA, when their continued existence was hindering wrestling growth as a whole.

This. WWE has had a stranglehold on mainstream wrestling in the US for nearly 20 years. Since the mid-2000s they’ve been complacent. Competition leads to intrigue, which leads to new ideas, perhaps the new ideas can lead to the industry itself reaching new heights.

How the hell could they be bad ?
At worse they flame out but they are creating a buzz. Between them, NJPW, and when WWE wants to shine they could wrestling is looking great
That’s not even including indies and places like Impact that is holding on doing some good stuff

TNA at the point where they were f***ing with peoples' lives, causing problems for people going to work elsewhere, and running an investment fraud scheme against one of their own employees? I'd say there was definitely a period where they actively harmed wrestling on the whole, and not in some kind of Jim Cornette 'killing the business' sort of way. Anyone who's going to claim AEW is 'bad competition' is just blinded by either intense hatred for the Bucks or intense fanboyism for WWE.

Its so good for wrestling having a viable new option for fans and talent that’s easily accessible is a win win for everyone and I hope they do great and its the kick in the posterior the wwe needs so they improved their dismal product.I’m on a self imposed hiatus from WWE I just have no interest in it infact I skipped wrestlemania for the 1st time ever as a fan and I also skipped MITB.I watched Double or Nothing and loved the variety, crowd passion and fun of it all and thats what I watch wrestling for is to have fun much like Michael Cole and various wwe superstars.

"I've done it. I've figured out how to create the most one-sided poll of all time!" - The OP, probably. I believe that poll was created in response to this thread, which was locked after it broke down and became a 1-on-20 debate about AEW being bad for wrestling

Its good for the guys and the fans.
I haven’t watched a second from it so I can’t judge the quality. I hope it’s a viable alternative and doesn’t turn into wcw 2.0

Just curious. How could anyone ever think it’s bad for wrestling? i think people are fearing/or hoping that aew will kill indies and snatch up everyone. so companies like impact, roh, mlw, etc can't function anymore

I think it'll be a good thing for wrestling. I do hope MLW, ROH, and Impact can still eke it out, and it would be nice if this doesn't hurt NJPW's chances of having a stateside presence, but I think that even there, they might do okay, particularly since I don't think AEW's going to run Mania weekend, leaving that lucrative window for a lot of indies.

If not specific organizations, indies as a whole are pretty damn resilient. They survived the demise of the territory system, WCW vs WWF vs ECW, TNA and ROH's rise, and WWE's massive talent grab.
I doubt AEW will have much of any negative effect on them, especially as outside of ROH and Impact, AEW seems to be perfectly ok with talent working indie shows and international dates.

Even if you dislike everything about AEW (kinda my boat), how could it be bad?
The fans at WWE shows are already chanting “A E Dub” and if that’s not the wake up the big bad wolf needs, I don’t know what is.

It all depends.
If it's another horrifically mismanaged cesspit like TNA was, just how can it be a good thing?
But right now, it's impossible to tell. We just have to wait and see.
