Guy could easily mail it in, as so many did with TNA and WCW, but he seems legit motivated.

I’m not much of a Jericho fan these days, but one thing that you can say about him is that he just about never mails it in. He works hard when he’s around.

Dude is going balls out, both in ring and in his aggressive promotion of everything he’s doing. He’s committed as f*** to helping every company he works for grow because of his involvement.
I’m sure some (or a lot) of that comes from wanting to cement his own legacy, but it still is a major benefit to the industry for him to not be in WWE

Chris Jericho could end the summer with both the IWGP and the AEW heavyweight championships. This is the same guy who won the undisputed title and might walk out onto TNT with some of his best work at 50. Dude is the GOAT and there really should be no denying it now.

I believe there’s a solid chance Jericho wins. It just doesn’t make sense to let Jericho go job 2 weeks after becoming top contender in AEW. They just broke up with Pac over shit like this, so why let Jericho go job? EDIT: Unless they do a bullshit finish, but ugh that’d suck for the main event of Dominion.

Jericho's one of those guys who runs his mouth a lot and sometimes gets himself into trouble due to that, along with always trying to embellish things to make them out to be grander.
Of course, he also busts his ass to try to live up to the hype he creates, and very often, I've found he does it. There are so many ways he could be kicking back and taking things easy, but he really does seem to try to put out the best work he can.
He says he gets paid 100 grand per NJPW match, and I can believe it, both due to how much he pumped their buy rates and because it's not like he wrestles for them THAT often to make it anywhere near implausible, a few matches a year.
I think he's been well worth it. Great matches, a willingness to put people over, and a drive to keep reinventing himself.

Been a Jericho fan since I got a 8th gen tape with some of his matches in Mexico. Dude can still go. Sure outside the ring he can be a bit of a dick. But it is wrestling lots of people are dicks or asshats or people you would never want to be around.

Dude is entering his 30th year in wrestling and is still world class. It'd be fun to look at various legends 30th year and compare.

Been a Jerichoholic since the 90s. I think he rubs people the wrong way sometimes when they just read what he says instead of hearing him say it and don't realise a lot of it is dry humour like the whole "banned from WWE" running joke he has on his podcast. He also gets flack for attaching himself to the hot trendy thing like AEW or NJPW but wouldn't you? The way you stay "relevant" is working with the new guys and not getting stale.
I really admire his insistence on doing new things too. Like who comes up with a new finisher at 48 years old? Even when he came back after that WWE break he brought the Codebreaker. He could easily just get complacent and have stayed in WWE for years just doing the list and being comfy. Instead he's main eventing the coolest thing in wrestling right now (and also being involved in the other cool non WWE thing in Japan) while doing weird shit like high sea cruises and also still doing his podcast and his band.
All that ass kissing being said, I wouldn't wanna hang out with him when he's drunk since he'd probably get annoying really fast haha.

As I said in the Judas Effect thread, dude's 48 and can still go in the ring in a way where he holds his own against much younger guys in their prime. I'm not sure if he ever had any major injuries, but wrestling for damn near 30 years is going to take a toll on the body.
Sting was similar during the last years of his career where despite his age, he could still have some damn compelling matches with the right guys.

"The folks at the Freakin Awesome Network, made an appreciation thread about me, so Vince thinks I'm public enemy number 1"- Chris Jericho just now.

I think Tenryu picked up a new finisher or two when he got old, but yeah, most of them only do it if they physically have to.

Tenryu's 53 Sai brainbuster was named for the fact that he started using it when he turned 53.

Did Jericho ever EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEER get injured? And I mean injury that causes time-off. DDP told a story in his HOF Speech that Jericho was dealing with debilitating back problems that almost ended his career in I wanna say the early 2010s, and DDP Yoga essentially erased them, and without that, Jericho would have either never been as good as he is now, or flat our retired.

Yeah, it was right around the age of 40. Jericho’s back was a complete mess from years of wear and tear, and DDPY basically saved his career. I’m not 100%, but I think there’s some pot or CBD involved too but I could be wrong.

I think the only bad injury he's ever had besides the back wear and tear people have already mentioned was really early on when he broke his arm messing up practicing a shooting star or something. I think he actually still did the match anyway!
