It's always tough to say with foreign guys in New Japan, since for many of them they tend to enjoy working there but also get fed up with the rough travel involved when you live in the US, Canada, or Europe and have to get to Tokyo on the regular; it's entirely possible Devitt/Balor was simply ready to stop making that trek so often, and that might not have changed. That said, I have to think he's a prime "wouldn't mind a look at AEW" candidate alongside Gallows and Anderson, given their connections and the obvious mini-Bullet Club reunion that'd involve. I can't say with a hundred percent certainty of at the time of Balor signing with E, but I know for a long while he (like Omega) was living in Japan. So the trek wasn't too bad when you consider that (at least when he lived there, again, he may have moved at some point). Definitely true that he was living there for awhile, since he went through the NJPW dojo; could be that he was looking to get back home more or what have you, I suppose. Right now, Will Ospreay and Juice Robinson appear set to start living in Japan, or at least I heard.

Meltzer said on WOR that at least 2 hands worth of people have inquired about leaving and some would shock you. I have to correct you on this, because this is an insane statement that Meltzer made that, if it were anyone else making it, I would immediately dismiss it, and the magnitude of it makes me still question it even coming from Meltzer. Meltzer did not say that there were two hands worth of people that have inquired about the outside. He said that there were one-to-two hands worth of people that HAVEN'T inquired about the outside.

I mean it makes sense to at least know your worth to see what you can get outside the WWE.

This post did not go in the direction I was expecting it to. Wow. That's even worse. (Though makes way more sense.)

You know, I looked at Renee's post of Ambrose after the podcast and saw all those wrestlers liking it so to hear only 1-2 handfuls of people who haven't inquired about the outside well, I guess that makes sense to a degree. Even if it's nothing and they could be liking it because it's Ambrose, they're not stupid, they know what's up.

Big name guy who I think would be up for leaving........Orton. Yep. He openly dislikes WWE creative and enjoys working old school. AEW would offer him that, plus a truck of money.

Guys who I don't think would be looking to leave mainly because they had that chance and passed, Styles, Owens and Zayn they all signed new contracts pretty recently.

I'm sure Owens and Zayns at least inquired about it or at least asked around to see what the response was. No reason why those 2 of all people wouldn't especially Zayn.

Owens signed this year or end of last year I think and said he was "happy" and wasn't going anywhere Sami is a diff story as I haven't heard a contract from him for a while so i'm sure he would test the waters if the money isn't mindblowing

Yep you're definitely correct about Styles. He loves it there and said WWE is the last place he plans on signing any contracts with(of course, never say never in wrestling lol)

Least we forget BTE was sort of spawned off of Owens' old web series and both Zayn & Owens have made cameos in early BTE footage.

It's possibly they asked, Owens signed for 5 damn years on top of all that. Depends on the person though. Owens has made it pretty clear that WWE was always the goal for him. Styles has repeatedly said this is it for him, last place he'll work and he wants a backstage role someday. I'll throw in Nakamura too, he's very comfortable doing what they ask him to do, he's comfortable getting paid there and is cool with it since he's aging and had his day.

Styles is a "Vince favorite" as well He had the chance to leave but didn't with AEW on the horizon. Styles at this points wants stability and say what you will about his year long title reign, that was an example of them trying to do right by him but Vince craziness getting in the way AJ has never been treated nothing less than a star in his years being there

I think it's probably more 50/50 60/40 on who is comfortable there and who really wants out.
For every Styles or Nak that seem more than happy to be there, you can find Rusev or the good brothers who pretty much look annoyed to be there.

I think to play Devils Advocate, here this is a scenario where we still have to remember despite the Vince insanity, people do love being in WWE for a variety of their own reasons It's "fun" to speculate and map out a scenario where there is a mass exodus but that really isn't the scenario. I do think if you gave people the option about 25% would dip tho but the flip side is not all of them would end up with a sticking point but they could live off that WWE money for a while

As much as Ziggler has bitched I don't think he'd leave, but still AEW Isn't going to have spots for everyone.

One guy I just considered that would be by all accounts a "name" and that you wouldn't necessarily think of right away...
Sheamus seems kind of by all accounts in the DB camp of "I want to do this until I completely fall apart", but because of WWE's strict medical hoops and the state of his neck his career's been winding down for the last few years in the company. Maybe he's considering his options?
It really would be something if even guys that were made men and H's boys like Sheamus and Orton decided to get going while the going's good.

Orton has been bitching for years.....he doesn't like their product at all. He could literally just do twitter Orton as his gimmick and be over. Bray Wyatt is one I could see taking off, he obviously does a lot of work with his character and they just kill him because they don't get it at all.
