Thinking about the Mox and Punk shoots I couldn’t help but notice how polite and respectful they were in many of their interactions with Vince. Like when Mox sounds his most pissed when he finds out he is going to have to work with Nia Jax. Even as pissed off as he was he immediately went to Vince and agreed to talk with Vince in his office about it.
Reasonable modern day people might call this professional, but Vince has always had this 1950’s Muscle Man Mindset.
Vince would call it meek. To get Vince’s respect you can’t approach him in a professional manner and “whine” about things you don’t like about in private.
Vince wants you to get coked up then shout at him in front of the boys that you are going to AEW so you don’t need him and get off your ass already.
Source: Shawn Michaels in the 1990s, Alberto Del Rio getting an $11 Zillion contract, etc.

I think Vince is just an inconsistent person whose reactions to the things people say or do basically depend entirely on how he feels about them before they do it.

Thing to remember for both Punk and Mox they were never Vince's favorites (in fact if you listen to the Punk episode of STWW I think Punk was almost hated by creative because of Heyman). But both earned his respect (or at least got his attention due to selling a lot of merch. But I also think it has to be said that some of this is Vince just being out of touch. See the stories Pritchard said about Colt Cabana. Also that Vince losers interest real quick (see Simon Dean stories)

The truth, as is ever the case with Vince, is that some people can do things and he'll respect them, and others can do the same things and enrage him.
It depends on whether he sees money in you.
