So my friend, that didnt even know what a Pin or Submission was, watched Double or Nothing and popped his wrestling cherry. here is his opinions as a complete casual. So for those that want to know how AEW appeals to the casual crowd,it was a good insight
-He personally loved when the wrestlers played more to the crowd and showed personality in their entrance.
-He had troubles understanding the rules of Tag Teams and Submission as they were never explained.
-Each match felt very different, it felt like each was its own universe of wrestling.
-He didn't think much of commentary,he enjoyed and think they are good at generating hype but nothing special.
-Jericho was his favorite(and he didnt know him before) because he said he was the best actor and had the most physical match.
-His favorite match was either Jericho vs Omega or Dustin vs Cody.
-Thinks The Young Bucks vs The Lucha Bros went a little too long.
-He said the blood added a lot to the Cody vs Dustin match, he felt it was really sentimental and personal.Said it was great storytelling.
- He said Jon Moxley appearing and attacking Omega was very random. He got the concept that Jericho was there to punish Jericho for his shit talk and make people help but didn't get why he also attacked Omega
-Loved the production quality of the show, said there was no confusing shots and didnt take away from action, loved listening to shit talk.
-Awesome Kong is "An Absolute Unit" and by watching he assumed she was much more experienced than the other woman in the 4-Way by how she moves and how physical her attacks looks.
-Riho is absolutely cute.
Overall he wouldnt buy every single PPV but its something he would buy from time to time,he enjoyed and was a good first experience.

Honestly I think the target audience for AEW is new fans. The old WCW crowd might not be into the newer stuff but there are plenty of people out there that would enjoy this kind of wrestling if introduced to it

If they put out a good product with satisfying storylines and pay offs, promote it well and not be super skeevy, they'll come. It's not a super difficult formula.
