They need new road agents because in some ways that Battle Riot was a mess. They all seemed disorganized but still comprehensible this was just a hot mess at times. I had fun for the first half but things got messy the later it went.
First off, why did we have at least two spots in which MULTIPLE PEOPLE entered the match? Both LAX and Sentai Death Squad entered as a team. And for some reason one of them counted as two entrants, and the other counted as one? I get that it's supposed to be "NO RULES AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!!" but there needs to be some consistency. After all if tag teams are apparently allowed to enter at the same time, why didn't the Von Erichs do so? Or Team Filthy? Or Injustice? If it had only been the Sentai Death Squad doing that it would have made sense since Contra has some political sway in MLW, but LAX doing so as well made the gimmick not make sense.
Another issue was how cluttered everything got. Half the field was already in the ring before ANYBODY got eliminated. This created quite a problem since it meant that everything most of the people in the match did was totally lost in the shuffle. I understand that most of this was designed to get EJ Nduka over by having him clear out the ring, but it happened over too long a period of time and so the killstreak (for lack of a better term) wasn't as emphasized as it should have been. About half of the eliminations got totally lost in the shuffle too. The most egregious of these was Davey Richards. He'd been there the whole match, and until about two or three minutes after he was gone I didn't even realize it.
One of the bigger issues is that there are people who should have been a big deal who were basically non-factors. Mil Muertes, Calvin Tankman and Gino Medina are people who frankly should have been impact players that were totally lost in the shuffle. Like I honestly can't think of anything meaningful those three did.
The Comedy entrants late were poorly thought out. Blue Meanie, and Kwang came out as the match was heading towards its climax, meaning they had to get their schtick in at the expense of the main people in the match. Which brings me to...
The biggest issue: Contra. This is the big killer heel group that has been totally dominating everybody who no one has been able to stop for 2+ years. So why on earth are they selling and taking offense from Kwang and THE BLUE FREAKIN MEANIE!!! Why once they had most of their group in the ring were they not totally dominating everybody? Why were they struggling to deal with Mid-carders? They should have just ruled the ring but instead once they hit the ring they were pretty much a non factor. The post match made no real sense either. Why wouldn't they attack Hammerstone post match? Why would Kruger (who was brought in PRECISELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREVENTING THIS) not attack Hammerstone after he won the match? Why would Josef Samael be trying to keep Fatu back from attacking his exhausted #1 Contender? I can't think of any other reason beyond the apparent respect for sportsmanship that terrorist organizations have.
Contra got neutered plain and simple.
