As we all depart from WWE, I have to ask to the people on here who watched WCW, what made you stop?
To me, it was Hogan joining The Wolfpac. None of that made any sense to me. I would check in on WCW during its final two years, but never watched regularly after that.

I actually watched WCW regularly from 1995 to the very end. Of course, the last 2 years were painful but I loved Lance Storm getting his push and Cruiserweight action never disappointed so that's pretty much what kept me hooked to WCW.

Shane wearing that sweater on the final Nitro. He looked ridiculous and I knew it was doomed in WWE's hands.
Seriously though, I was there until the end. Yes there was a lot of crap, I mean a lot of crap, but you could usually find something worth watching.

Fingerpoke of doom changed me from an avid viewer to an occasional watcher.

I never stopped full on but there were a ton of little UGH things that made me slowly step down how often I did. The biggest of which is the GOLDBERG ISN'T FOLLOWING THE SCRIPT stuff.

Starcade 97...after building up to Hogan vs Sting for a year I get that crappy match and horrible finish. From then until the final Nitro the only WCW I saw was Saturday night or the rare time that THunder or Nitro came near me.

A lot of reasons but the biggest were 20 minute overrun after they went to 3 hours, NWO all the time. 30 minute NWO promo to open the show, multiple NWO factions, 50 minute NWO promo, match, promo to end the show and a personal peeve was people throwing garbage in the ring. Dangerous and hated it.

Bash at the Beach 2000 was a bash too far. With the entire rest of the show feeling like a nonsensical mess being booked in contempt of its audience, I always loved Booker T and seeing him win the belt felt like a good time to check out before being disappointed with how I knew they'd inevitably handle it.

i switched over in 98 because WWE had a more interesting product. in WWE they said "I'll kick your ass", in WCW they said "I'll kick your butt". in WWE guys rose to the top based on their success as performers, in WCW 90% of their top guys were at that level because of past success usually in other companies. in WWE the good guys usually got one over on the evil authority figure, in WCW Bischoff & Hogan usually stood triumphant.

The entire year 2000. You couldn't follow any of the shit they did. I kept trying like hell to watch it because I was always a WCW guy, but Raw got really good and WCW was unwatchable. I'd watch the opening 5 minutes or so of Nitro before tapping out.

President Ric Flair being sent to the insane asylum. 13 year old me who had just discovered ECW thought it was mega lame.

I’d say when it closed down, there was a ton of batshit crazy ideas they had but I had my favorites like Sting, Booker.T and Goldberg.

Way back when I got into wrestling I’d just watch whatever, so I saw WCW. WWF just had way more interesting characters and presentation for a 6 year old.

Mostly because I found Vince Russo to be incredibly annoying.
Also I didn’t understand why the younger New Blood, the alleged future of WCW, were being presented as heels while fans were mostly complaining about the older guys being on top constantly.
David Arquette as world champion was also dumb, but at that point I was a devoted WWF viewer and my thought was “sure, why not? They can’t devalue the belt much worse.”

I never stopped watching completely, I would just switch over from Raw less often.

SuperBrawl IX when the newly reunited NWO won basically every match they were in was the point when I started watching drastically less of it. I still followed it through 1999, but then in the fall when they were hot shotting the title around the usual crew of tired Main Eventers, I nearly ceased watching completely. A big reason for that is how good the WWF was at the time. After that, I remember watching a show here and there but nothing regularly. The absolute last time I watched WCW live before the purchase was WarGames 2000.
