I'm surprised there's THIS much visual reference to Kubrick's Shining. Especially considering King was not fond of that adaptation...

Love that they seem to be using the original score.

Yeah, as much as he and I are not fans of it, it makes sense to do so. Very visually iconic and tells the audience what it's a sequel to without telegraphing it. Looks very faithful to the book so far. Noticed one thing that could effect a twist from the book but there's a way for it to still make sense and even if it's left out I'll be fine with it. Honestly, looks creepier than the book even, very excited.

It is great seeing Stephen King's work getting the high end treatment.

I’m fricken down. Ewan makes it a must for me but I’ve been curious about the book for a couple years too.

After what he allowed them to do to his magnum opus the Dark Tower series King has no right to complain about any of his adaptations...I was so pissed off with the movie that I almost went and had the 3 tattoos I have related to the Dark Tower covered over...I hope Amazon does it justice with the new series coming out as the stories are amazing

But I can't verify that.

Yep, still need to read this. Just finished King’s Bill Hodges trilogy. Which I thought were some of the best work he’s done over the past 15 years.

Count me in as one of the people who need to read this as well. The Shining is one of my favorite books of all time and I'm surprised I haven't gotten to this sooner. Although I might as well wait until closer to the movie's release as per tradition, they will definitely do a reprint of the book with the film's poster acting as the cover.

He has no say-so after the rights are sold. They could have added Jar Jar Binks Jr as a side character and there is nothing he could have done about it.

Madison's right which is why some authors are wary or even never sell the rights (i.e. Catcher in the Rye). Even though he has no say, I really don't think King would say anything bad until after the film has been released. I mean he can, but more out of respect to film makers and money he probably doesn't. We all know Stephen is not a fan of Kubrick's version. He even went so far to do a tv movie of it in 1997. I imagine Stephen King must feel something akin to Trent Reznor and the song, "Hurt". Someone took their work (Kubrick and Johnny Cash) and redefined their work to made something unique and beloved beyond the original version.

Not for nothing but the trailer for Dark Tower was awesome. Potential for a good movie seemed to have been there.

Saw the trailer when I went to see READY OR NOT last week. The DOCTOR SLEEP trailer was the best part of my whole theater-going experience. It gave me chills.
(Though READY OR NOT was fun, don't get me wrong.)
