Celtics also feel like Philly tampered with Horford They don't think they were able to get fair negotiations with him as before free agency even started he already knew his market and basically shut Boston out I mean, when he opts out and rumors fly he already has a 100 million dollar offer from SOMEWHERE before free agency even starts itโs pretty clear thereโs tampering going on somewhere. Same could be said of all free agents who sign within minutes of FA opening. I donโt think those agents hammer out those details in mere seconds. Lol

There is definitely blatant tampering going on. Adam Silver will allow it because the NBA is hot right now and all the player movement is exciting for fans. I don't know how sustainable it is as fans usually cheer for the front of the jersey, and now the NBA is forcing you to cheer for the back of it with the players having so much control.

NBA being a player-driven league is not some recent development. There's always going to be diehard fans of teams, but the NBA has always celebrated the star athlete going back at least to the days of Wilt.

There's always going to be diehard fans of teams, but the NBA has always celebrated the star athlete going back at least to the days of Wilt. There was never this much player movement though. Fans who cheered for the Bulls because of Jordan never had the option of following him to 3-4 different franchises. He stayed with the Bulls until the end (I choose to forget the Wizard days since it was a nostalgia run). We are now seeing players in their primes not only leaving their teams but joining forces with other players to deliberately create a disadvantage. If you're a Pelicans fan, how long is Zion going to stay there before he demands a trade or takes less money to sign elsewhere? It has become a league where you might be better off rooting for the player and following that player through multiple orgs than rooting for a team, especially one that isn't a big market or in Toronto's a case isn't a desirable location for US talent. LeBron created an environment where the players have all the control, and while I like the fact that players are getting paid and choosing their own path, it makes the game a bit harder to follow for teams in undesirable markets.

Off the top of my head, Denver, Milwaukee, Portland pretty much was a wash losing Kanter and adding Whiteside. Det only added Rose, Orlando I don't remember who they added but mostly brought back everyone Portland lost 4 rotation players in Kanter, Curry, Aminu and Harkless Also speaking of Aminu, he went to Orlando which is name I couldn't think of before Orlando has to be on the list of least changed playoff teams we added Aminu and let a couple non rotation players walk and that's basically it since it's even rumored that we might just sit our first round pick Okeke all season to allow him to recover from his injury. We haven't even signed him yet, the only first round pick still unsigned.

Lol Tampering will always be a problem but I think the fact is it is so blatant and how things are working is starting to become a problem. Yes, you're going to get contract details leaked of KD, Kyrie etc but I think what's funny is I forgot who the Nets signed but they had all his contract details including options and even the NBA people on ESPN like Rachel, Windhorst, Ramona were like okay we understand general numbers but how the hell is all these extra details out their Players talking to players is not tampering and obviously players are going to recruit you all year but management talking to players while they are still on another team is becoming a problem

Look back to the formation of the Devil's Threesome in Miami. The media still waxes poetic about the possibly apocryphal tales of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade meeting up back at the 2008 Olympics and agreeing that they'd settle on a single destination when they all hit free agency two summers later. Or the 2013-14 season, when there were rumblings of LeBron returning to Cleveland a full eight months before free agency began. Or last year, when talking heads were effectively saying that LeBron was destined for the Lakers before the 2017-18 season had even tipped off. Or this summer, when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving had that hushed conversation at the All-Star Game and then lo and behold they're on the same team five months later. This stuff is rampant and there's never going to be a time when tampering ceases. Really the only time the NBA is forced to admonish or punish someone for tampering is when they're so public and brazen about it that the league is left with no other choice. (Magic Johnson, I'm looking in your direction) Brian Windhorst insinuated that the Lakers feel like Kawhi waited a week on purpose to sign elsewhere knowing he wasn't going to the Lakers That sounds far-fetched and crying over spilled milk at this point Considering who's reporting this, I'm reading it as "LeBron feels like Kawhi waited a week on purpose to sign elsewhere knowing he wasn't going to the Lakers." Because at this point, is Brian Windhorst really anything other than LeBron James' personal sock puppet?

After a wild free agency period, eyes have turned to Bradley Beal. The Wizards will offer Beal a 3yr/$111m extension on 7/27. If he rejects the offer, the team will have to figure out if itโs time to get something in return for him.

He was for a while no doubt LeBrons personal puppet but that has sort of changed since his move to L.A. Windhorst has at points criticized LeBron and the Lakers this offseason. I don't think LeBron group likes Windhorst but him and LeBron have never really had any personal problems

Harden says him and CP3 had no problems and he looks forward to working with Westbrook and don't see them having any problems
He is also forewarning us about a new move he has that looks like travel but isn't

Kawhiโs move baffles me from a marketing standpoint. Leaving Toronto means no one in Canada is going to ride with him anymore, which is one thing, but by waiting so long to make up his mind he screwed over the Lakers, and LA is far more Lakers than Clippers as far as support. So in one decision he alienated a country and the majority of his own city. New Balance canโt be too happy with that.

No, but he should no doubt get the respect of doing his job. He didn't mope around and wait for his contract to run out, he did his job and got them a ring they never came close to at any time. So I don't see how he alienated a country In regards to the Clippers decision, yes their is more Laker fans but can't sleep on the Clippers who over the last 10 years has been a consistent franchise while the Lakers have been middle of the road. He is vying for the king of L.A. spot over LeBron and Kawhi has newfound popularity due to his playoff performance that puts him in the top 3 players in the league

It's hard for Canada to hate a guy who damn-near carried that team to significantly further than they ever got before. NBA is a star league. Lots of fans follow players instead of teams. Kawhi probably netted more paying fans the last 6 months in play and media coverage than he lost. Net gain, especially for a smaller fish like NB.

I still can't figure out where this "KAWHI SCREWED THE LAKERS" narrative is coming from.
At no point do I see any screwing by Kawhi. I do, however, see lots of people being upset because their fantasies didn't come true. That ain't his fault. That's your fault.

Yea, if you hate Kawhi in Canada after what he just did you are a fickle fan. You can say you don't care about him but to actively hate against him when everyone and their mother knew what his intentions were coming into the offseason really doesn't make sense to me. He didn't wait out his contract, he played hard and got them a chip Also add on we know he told Toronto just like the Clippers he wanted PG13 as a running mate but Raptors couldn't make it happen so he gave them a shot.

I never said Canada hates Kawhi, Iโm saying from a marketing standpoint no one in the country is going to buy his NB gear or support him going forward. Appreciating what he did in the past is a separate issue.

Appreciating what he did in the past is a separate issue. No one is a big reach Individuals in Canada are going to buy some of his stuff. He's going to be a cult hero for the longest time until someone else steps up. If Raps don't make the playoffs but the Clippers do, I can see them rooting for Kawhi because of what he has done Appreciating what he did in the "past" I don't see is a seperate issue. This is fresh in people minds, they didn't win 5 years ago, it happened just a few months ago

What fanbase operates like that though? This is a very rare situation since no one ever wins Finals MVP and then leaves, but are Warriors fans going to buy KDโs stuff going forward? Or Miami fans with LBJ? I think fans in general are prisoners of the moment. The minute the games start and Kawhi is on the Clippers, Toronto fans will move on to something else. Theyโll appreciate what he did but that doesnโt mean theyโll be his fans for life. I also donโt think Kawhi is on the LBJ level where his brand is so big that he could maintain a fanbase wherever he goes. Like I said I think most of LA will hate on him for baiting the Lakers for so long and forcing them to spend on the scraps left in free agency. Donโt underestimate LA fans when it comes to the Lakers. The Lakers could be crap for years but the moment they are relevant again the Clippers will be a sideshow. Same with Brooklyn/Knicks.
