Free agent Jeremy Lin will be playing in China with the Beijing Shougang Ducks People were making fun of him for crying about the NBA being done with him and he's not wrong to feel hurt but hopefully China helps him fill that void All things considered he had a very good career for a guy who came from nowhere and China is becoming a great alternative to the NBA. Also with the way the season works, if he plays well enough he will find himself back in the NBA come Feb

I personally think Team USA needed a swift kick in the ass. I'm not entirely sure it's going to wake them up. I see them not winning overall. It's not a problem of American basketball, it's the players who are opting out that is forcing Team USA to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Anthony Davis, James Harden, Bradley Beal, Tobias Harris, Damian Lillard, Kevin Love, and CJ McCollum were all among those who withdrew earlier this summer and the likes of Devin Booker, Jimmy Butler, Stephen Curry, DeMar Derozan, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Draymond Green, Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Chris Paul, Klay Thompson, and Russell Westbrook all declined invitations. That's how Team USA - the freaking Dream Team - has ended up with the likes of Harrison Barnes, Joe Harris, Brook Lopez, Mason Plumlee, Marcus Smart, and Derrick White on the roster. I don't know what it is - probably some combination of wanting to rest and rehabilitate over the summer and not wasting precious minutes on something as inconsequential as the FIBA World Cup - but I'd like to think Team USA will be in better shape by the time the 2020 Summer Olympics roll around. Also with the way the season works, if he plays well enough he will find himself back in the NBA come Feb He really shouldn't be that astonished that the NBA has moved past him. He's a 31-year-old guard with a checkered injury history and mobility issues who hasn't played anything close to resembling a full season since 2015-16 and has been on six teams in as many seasons. He's the definition of expendable. "Linsanity" was a fun little moment that captivated the sports world, but it was seven years ago. If not for that stretch of play in early 2012, I'd argue that the NBA would have been done with him a lot sooner than now. He had a decent career, made nearly $70 million, and won a championship. The NBA doesn't owe him anything and Father Time remains undefeated.

I've gotten beaten in Mario Kart by somebody that was born since Linsanity was a thing. (6 year old nephew is a video game savant i swear)
I think he's been given plenty of time to prove his worth since then.

Pretty sure he'll never be on an NBA team ever again if these allegations can be substantiated. He'll basically be in the Ray Rice position, just 'over the hill' enough for the domestic violence stigma to shove him all the way down to the end.

Just heard on the radio that there's a warrant out for his arrest, too, supposedly for misdemeanor domestic assault.

If this is true, he's done because he does not have the talent to justify keeping him on any roster with his injuries

Here's another guy the NBA doesn't owe a thing. I don't understand the narrative about how it's so unfair that Carmelo Anthony can't get a job and that it's some grand tragedy. Look at his career arc. He's a me-first scorer whose field-goal percentage has dropped 50 points since 2013-14, his three-point shooting is below 33 percent, and his free-throw shooting dropped nearly 80 percent during his last full season. His scoring is down almost 12 points per game, he hasn't played meaningful NBA minutes since the spring of 2018, and he's a 35-year-old with more than 1,000 games' worth of minutes on his legs. What about that career trajectory says he deserves an opportunity? At best, at the absolute very best, he's a microwave you bring off the bench for a couple of minutes to see if he can't get a quick few points while the starters rest. The question is whether he'd accept a bench role as a team's eighth- or ninth-man who gets maybe 10 minutes a night.

The question is whether he'd accept a bench role as a team's eighth- or ninth-man who gets maybe 10 minutes a night. Who said the NBA owes him anything? KD and Kyrie are lobbying for him because they believe he has something left in the tank. On a team that deep all you need Melo for is to contribute. He can still be enough of a threat to be a decoy on a team and some days he may go off and score 29 but others he may only get 5. All you want him to do is work hard In fairness to Melo, he accepted a bench role in Houston. They just cut him after 10 games because he wasn’t a fit. Melo was in his own worst enemy in OKC because he should have accepted a bench role then and this stigma wouldn’t still be following him

Team USA almost shit the bed against Turkey
Tatum got fouled with one sec left and hit both FTs to tie the game and they won in OT
