Well that does not bode well for Zion season aint even begun and already out and having sugery. Atleast Greg Oden played before he crumpled like paper Really makes me wonder if his current build is built to last in the NBA.

To be bordering on 300lbs in todays NBA where it is has become basically a runners game , unless they are freak of nature like lebron is just not built for the NBA. Dude is somewhere in the range of what 285-290 so probably gonna need to come down to 260-265 if he wants to have atleast a chance at even some longevity in the NBA.

Calling him Greg Oden over a relatively short surgery is a very hot take.

Yea, injuries too rooks coming into the league have been a common thing to the point Philly was basically using any excuse to redshirt players so they can get more draft picks The biggest cautionary tale lately has been Markelle Fultz but that is its own problem. End of the day, it is an injury so nothing to really go crazy over Greg Oden was a bruiser and that zapped him but he was nowhere near the athletic beast that Zion, Griffin and Embiid is and the later two, turned out more than fine if we are talking strictly big men Now if these injuries keep recurring like Amare, then we will talk

People sleeping on my Raptors. Top 4 team in the East this year (barring injury). Top 4? Idk about all that The East being weak is part of it, but I think they are still 7 deep. Nurse runs an offense with a lot of ball movement and they have great defenders all around. That seems like a recipe for an overachieving regular season squad. Of course once they get to the playoffs they will get exposed since they don't have a superstar like Kawhi or even a reliable ISO player like DeRozan. A lot will depend on how Siakam develops. Regardless, I think people are sleeping on them as a regular season squad. They'll rack up the wins as long as they don't suffer serious injuries.

Yeah Im surprised they don't have him cutting weight already. Doesn't get easier to stay in shape as you get older and 290 can be 300 after a weekend in Vegas.
You're right at 260 or so he's a beast, that extra 30 is a liability.

Makes me wonder how Shaq was able to last as long as he did with his weight. The game in his prime was very runner paced and athletic as well.

IMO the game back then was very big man friendly it did not ask anymore of them than just be a big body in the paint where as now big men have to be able to be both the big body and be alot more mobile because teams like to get the big man out the paint. the 3pt game was nowhere as prevelent as it is now and is why it is said so much of the time that a tradiitional big man just does not fit into the current nba.

Zion's going to have to cut weight and play a little smarter (which will be tough since he's so athletic he can dominate just with that some times). Injuries this early in someone's career isn't necessarily bad (Blake Griffin recovered nicely) but have to keep an eye out.

Shaq was quick and could run the floor. He wasn't as explosive as Zion, LeBron, Blake, or Reign Man. There's also genetics and just plain luck involved in who is the the Oden and who is as healthy as LBJ (before he became a health freak). I mean, Zion has more risk as he is just as much of hitting the limitation of what the human body is capable of as LeBron was at the time (remember the rumors about his vert?). But if you would have asked in 2003, people would have told you that LeBron would be more of an injury risk than VC, and VC moreso than McGrady. Turns out, LeBron has been as healthy as anyone for 15 years, VC is STILL playing, and McGrady was almost never healthy again. Zion does need to lose about 20 lbs, but the health concerns aren't as straightforward as they're made out to be.

I mean, it鈥檚 been this way for a little while now, but Vlade definitely isn鈥檛 the village idiot at the GM鈥檚 table anymore. Seems like he used Hield's ego against him. If you're so good, you'll have no problem hitting these incentives.

My way too early playoff picture guesses are:
WEST: 1) Denver Nuggets 2) Portland Trailblazers 3) LA Clippers 4) Utah Jazz 5) LA Lakers 6) Houston Rockets 7) San Antonio Spurs 8) Dallas Mavericks
EAST: 1) Milwaukee Bucks 2) Philadelphia 76ers 3) Boston Celtics 4) Toronto Raptors 5) Indiana Pacers 6) Miami Heat 7) Brooklyn Nets 8) Orlando Magic

Think about how lucky LeBron is to have never had a real serious injury that forced him to miss a chunk of time until last year. That is good genetics in taking care of your body on top of insane luck he's never severely twisted an ankle falling on someone after blocking a shot or f***ed up a shoulder playing defense. He's had some injuries to his face tho that he has played through
