Fawlty Towers is the only show that didn't"sell out" and come back, isn't it? P.S. BBC, Mongrels is right there for a series 3 and more. The Young Ones never came back.

This "kids today..." style plot sounds more like a Thin Blue Line revival than a Blackadder one.

Should just leave well alone. The end of Blackadder Goes Forth was about as perfect as the ending of a series could be. No need to resurrect it now. Reminder that Blackadder Back And Forth was a thing. They already had a brief comeback. It goes to show you how effective it was that people skip over it when recollecting the show.

Whilst it sounds awful you have to remember that the Blackadder character while very smart was arrogant and far too overconfident that would frequently lead to his comeuppance. Even if it is "get off my lawn/PC gorn mad" Blackadder don't expect him to come across the the victorious voice of reason that you're fearing. Also he's playing a university lecturer skirting around the issue of student politics aren't the teaching faculty usually portrayed as sympathetic to the students in such cases plus Atkinson is 64 yrs old now, his days of playing a cynical, old before his time young man are well behind him.

I'll pretty much watch anything with the Blackadder crew. Just hearing the concept of him as a university lecturer seems so perfect.

Urgh.... celebrity guest stars. 9 times out 10, celebrity guest appearances are shit. One of the reasons why the newer Ab Fabs weren't the same. Seems they doubled down on guest stars when it came back in 2001. They always did have them every so often, but not at the rate the later episodes/specials/The Movie did.

I am just happy there is going to be more Black Adder. Rather not judge, and condemn, the show before I see even a clip. Same. A reunion sounds fun. I’ll check it out if it actually happens.

I'm all for it, but I really hope they drop the celebrity cameo idea.

Would getting Hugh Laurie back be considered a celebrity guest now with his more recent than Blackadder fame?

I will say for my part, I pictured a Blackadder set in the 80’s with Endumd and company as members of Thatcher’s government in some really obscure position, Edmund trying to pot his way to power and expressing exasperation at the pop culture of the time.

Would getting Hugh Laurie back be considered a celebrity guest now with his more recent than Blackadder fame? No. He wouldn’t be a guest, he’d be part of the main cast, like the previous two series of it. And sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Tony Robinson has said the meeting never happened.

I don’t count the time travelling episode as Blackadder as it was initially made in conjunction with the launch of the Millennium Dome. In terms of an end to a series, Blackadder Goes Forth is the way to do it. It was the first time I realised how beautifully bittersweet comedy could be. Going back to the article, it should be noted that the last sentence of ‘nobody has confirmed anything’ is most likely the Sun’s way of saying ‘We made it up’.

So its just to be Blackadder bitching about millennials.
If true... I'll pass.

Ben Elton has put the final word in: "Every time Tony does an interview he says, 'Oh, I think there might be another,' but don't listen to Baldrick on this one, you need to hear it from me or Richard Curtis as we write it. There is never going to be another - I can tell you that now. It's just best to remember Blackadder as it was." www.comedy.co.uk/tv/news/5478/no_more_blackadder/

Black Adder was taking shots at people in power... 2. it takes place in the past so they can do all manner of gags about that 3. the threat of imminent death. Kids today are not in power, being modern day means that they can't do any gags on the time, and at a university there is not a threat of imminent death as there was with the Medieval Courts or you know World War I.

The years have not been kind to his creative abilities. Upstart Crow is clearly him trying and failing to create a similar tone to Blackadder, which blows, because the premise and casting is excellent.
