So it sounds more like a remake of the original than a sequel. Because the Cat People and the Zombies all died when they were prevented from sucking life out of them.

That'd be a bummer, but I can see your point, these movies are way too dumbed down and sanitised compared to how the revival films started.

Meh, the original is a really good movie and shows Scooby can go in a darker direction if needed be. Can't see this being a sequel since the last movie ended with the cat people dying and the Zombies souls being put to rest

"13th Ghost" disappointed me so much. Going back to the old formula, instead of having the ghosts be real like "13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo" did.
I just know they'll go back to formula by having the cat people and zombies be fake. And that will just ruin the whole thing.

The movies that came after all went back to the original formula, it seems real but it turns out to be fake. When "Curse of the 13th Ghost" was announced as being a continuation of "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo" I thought they would ditch the formula. In that show, the ghosts were real. The crew let those ghosts out, and it was up to them to cathy them again. But, they made it that the entire thing was fake. The "real ghosts" were explained away as delusions. The magic thought to be a lie. It just ruined it for me. And I just know they'll do it again with Zombie Island. The cat people will be explained as costumes. The zombies as well. It's so obvious.

There was a LOT more going on between them than two friends working in tandem to solve the problems. A few Scooby cartoons (Mystery Inc and the recent Be Cool) have been lucky enough to reference it in one-off episodes, usually as a subversion or as a gag plot, but that's another aspect of the Scrappy years that WB would rather have you forget...only fans don't want to as they feel she has better chemistry with him than Fred.

And then they gave Shaggy a girlfriend in Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf, to which they never mention again sheet that movie. That or he had a car like the Mach 5, which had all sorts of devices on it.

I prefer my Scooby Doo with an extra helping of Sin Cara and a side of Brodus Clay. Thank you very much.

Just read a spoiler {Spoiler}Yeah, they retcon Zombie Island as being just a horror movie someone was making, though they leave one supernatural element unsolved to give you some hope

So are these movies getting made just so some fanboy purist in charge can right past wrongs?

From what I heard today, the franchise's current executive producers are all people who wrote for the show in the 70s and want to bring it closer to that style, they were never happy with the progress some of the earlier movies or later series had made.

No, it's that it's fake, only the antagonist is willing to commit varying acts of terrorism or murder to cover their tracks. It's a weird middle ground. And I'm not fond of it. Pick a side.
