I don't think this technically belongs in here, because it's the Sony Spider movies, not the MCU proper, but MAN, I hope that the Kraven movie is good. He's far and away my favorite Spidey villain, and I hope they do him justice. Hate to break your heart, but all reports make it out to be worse than Morbius. I kinda figured things were trending in that direction. My favorite characters tend to get shafted in the transition to film. Kraven, the New Mutants. They got Moon Knight mostly right, at least.

Those two accounts are the only reliable sources on Twitter when it comes to test screenings, so at the very least the test screenings were positive. Of course, plenty of terrible movies get positive test screenings, so it's not necessarily guarantee of anything.

Which brings up a funny question Make everyone forget Peter Parker is Spiderman. The actual Peter Parkers will remember he is Spidey right? Since Peter himself remembers he's Spidey, one would presume that Strange cast a spell where all the Peter Parkers remember they are Spider-Man. everyone but Peter Parker forgets who Spiderman is, leading to so many people world wide named Peter Parker trying to convince others that Spiderman has their name and failing as they cant prove it due to the spell removing/hiding all the evidence.

Indeed, though it also had a shitload of test screenings for multiple versions of the movie, and most of them tested poorly. Kraven will probably suck something awful, but to date its only had one test screening. How that affects the final cut is anybody's guess.

My question from the ending was why do Ned and MJ not know Peter? I get that they wouldn't know he is Spider-Man... but shouldn't they still know him. I'm sure I'm overlooking a simple thing and will feel dumb when someone explains it to me, but that's still in the back of my mind.

Well, strictly speaking the spell that resulted in the events of the movie happening was a botched "Everybody forgets Peter Parker is Spider-Man" spell, while the spell that fixes everything is "Everybody forgets Peter Parker, period."

Yeah, pretty much Peter Parker does not exist to them at all since Strange had him wipe him out. Of course at some point we expect the spell to get f***ed up

Settle for a cameo as Gambit in an alternate work is pretty much the only expectation to be had but the Gambit movie felt doomed from start anyway

There's no appeal for a Gambit movie. He's got no rogues gallery or storylines that people would want to see.
Maybe when he became one of Apocalypse's Horsemen but you'd have to really stretch it.

Maybe it's just the exhaustion talking (it is almost midnight here on the East Coast), but in a world where Morbius exists, FOX trying to sell a Gambit movie on the strength of peak Channing Tatum doesn't sound that farfetched.

Gambit's rogues gallery is just greater enemies the X-Men have. He doesn't have something like Wolverine having Sabertooth as his enemy.

variety.com/2023/film/news/marvel-kevin-feige-superhero-fatigue-1235499609/The stand-out part: Kind of worried Kevin Feige doesn't know how novels work as novels compared to superhero comics work as superhero comics. But even then, compare comic book movies before and after the MCU. Though all of them may not have been great, and some of them were outright bad, there was certainly more variety to the type of comic book movies that *could* exist then, and not even superhero comic book movies, than what came after the MCU exploded on the scene when everyone in Hollywood engaged in the fool's errand of trying to chase Feige money.

The "less popular" MCU movies are still MILES better than a great majority of the non-XMen films that came before it, IMO. I just watched the Affleck Daredevil movie a couple weeks ago.... wow was it terrible. Howard The Duck, of course, is the exception here. LOL

I remember around 2000 there was a push by fans for Lash LeRoux to play Gambit in a potential X-Men sequel. No, I'm serious, they even had Lash in one of the final issues of WCW acknowledge it.
