I vaguely remember there being rumors he was going to be in Captain Marvel 2. Would fit there... among other places. They'd have to tweak his origin slightly since Mar was female in CM... but it's not impossible.

Probably for the best. Deadpool aside, as you’re just not gonna find better casting then Reynolds, I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to completely reboot the X-Men franchise. The franchise is ready for it, plus it’s still 2-3 years away at least so I think complete reboot is the right play

Interesting that Feige approached him. Opens up the possibility of other actors from the Fox movies returning.

Fassbender and McAvoy for sure as you can age them up to be the "old" versions of the characters if you want Wonder what idea they use though. They have burned through Phoenix Saga twice and Days of Future Past. Still got House of M though with Wanda going berserk which is probably the catalyst to bring the mutants in

Mister Sinister is a good choice since they have never really used him at all over the years Really still a ton of ways they can go in X-Men

I feel Days of Future Past would be more suited to a miniseries format, so they could hold off on that for a good while. I hope they never touch the Phoenix Saga, I didn't much care for it before we got two terrible movies.

I loved Patrick in the role. But I think a clean slate with no ties to the original movies is the way to go. Deadpool doesn't really count as they are more adjacent to the movies.

Marvel has been back and forth on taking stories from the comics. Like, the Spider-Man movies were pretty much original concepts, and they've taken that route with others as well. I could see an original story, probably leaning into the original concept of X-Men with bigotry and hatred for being different, something that is topical for today and is in the X-Men wheelhouse. I'd honestly want that more then anything, we've seen the franchise go bonkers for a bit now and I think something a bit more down to earth would work well and benefit the new franchise.

Trying to adapt the mess that is current X-Men film continuity into the MCU is a disaster so I'm glad he turned it down.

I'd still love to see Patrick Stewart in some sort of cameo as an homage.

I feel like they need completely new people to play the big X-Men characters. As said the X movie continuity is a huge can of worms and the MCU's already gonna have to navigate Sony off in their corner kinda sorta maybe doing MCU stuff.

Really glad and appreciative Stewart declined. And he’s probably going to go down as synonymous with the Xavier character (or vice versa) but no reason another actor can’t take a new stab at it. Similar to McAvoy. That’s not even the most daunting change when considering someone new will have to portray Wolverine. But yeah, I echo what people have said that, not only is a clean slate probably the ideal route but I think people are ready for it.
