I can see all sides with this but, like...I think I just need more context with this.
They clearly said he's playing Victor Von Doom so that goes without saying, I think. But is he the only Doom? Are there more Dooms in the wings played by other people? Are they all RDJ looking or different people?
I feel like we're sort of jumping to conclusions a bit for a film that has barely started production and just got their directors is all I'm saying.

Whole thing could be a feint of sorts; get RDJ to play an alternate universe Doom for the next 1-2 Avengers films before the Sacred Timeline's Doom emerges with a younger/less expensive actor for the long term.

They ruined Adam Warlock, are giving me Silver Surfer that just wont be right and have turned Doom in to 'Evil Iron Man.'
That's 3 for 3 on my favourite characters.
Only Nova left now.

Given what we heard about the Fantastic Four movie, it could be the Doom from their verse.

Exactly. Feels like there's still a lot we don't know, especially with the Fantastic Four either being set in the past on Sacred Timeline Earth or on an entirely different Earth. It could all suck, for sure, but it does feel like we barely know anything about this.

I still maintain there was a good movie in the 2015 one SOMEWHERE, but network execs stuck their noses in and made it much worse. One of the biggest problems was they either figured everyone would know about the relationships between the characters and why certain events mattered or they figured that a line or two of exposition was sufficient. It felt like a movie that was missing important connective tissue.

One theory thrown around is that he won’t be Victor von Doom but the Anthony Stark Doom variant…so basically evil Iron Man. Leaves room for Victor to eventually appear or even help the heroes in Avengers 6. Still seems like they’re over reacting by blowing their Galactus/Doom load prematurely instead of just recasting Kang and powering through the MCU reboot and then doing Doom right. He got outwitted by Ant Man and a god in his two major appearances while another variant of his got stalked romantically by a cartoon clock. The dude's damaged goods. He's had years to be legitimized and kept getting almost ritually humiliated. That’s on them though. Kang was the best thing about Ant-Man 3 and the original ending had him escaping the Quantum Realm. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have one of his variants lose in that movie should have been canned. They crapped all over everything Loki set up and they actually set it up that he was a major threat. Makes me wonder what would have happened if Majors didn’t have legal troubles because that ending was changed pre-trial. That doesn’t change the fact that hot shotting Doom with absolutely no set up is a stupid ass idea. At that point if they don’t have the vision or writing skills to just recast and rehabilitate Kang then they should just all be fired. On the movie side we only have Captain America 4, Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four supposedly coming before Doomsday. We’re literally going to set up Doom that fast? They wanted RDJ back they should have just pivoted to evil Avengers variants looking to destroy the multiverse. You have Superior Iron Man, Hydra Cap, Maestro…

I have a feeling RDJ is variant Anthony Stark/Doom and may not necessarily be Victor but who knows with them right now. I have money on Victor not necessarily being evil and still being friends with Reed through Secret Wars. He’ll still be a good guy and help take RDJ Doom down. His heel turn will happen way later.

There's a lot of questionable decisions Marvel is making.
The biggest one to me is snubbing Norrin Rand and acting like he doesn't exist.

I get that Marvel is in a tough spot because of Major being trash but this reeks of desperation
all they need to do is recast someone as Kang

This whole saga had such a shit framework and planning that everyone involved should be embarrassed.

So the writer of Marvel's book The Ultimates has come out and said next month's issue of his book will clear up the confusion about the casting choice.

I’m with everyone who feels like RDJ as Doom is Disney and Marvel flailing and needing to find something to bring interest back. Why couldn’t he just play Superior Iron Man if they wanted him in an evil role?
Post-Endgame MCU has been a bit of a nightmare.

Regarding Kang: Jonathan Majors is the biggest reason why we’re in the situation we’re in now. Nobody can plan for the actor of your main villain abusing his girlfriend. Especially after said villain had already been established before all that went down.

But how do She-Hulk, white Vision, Shang-Chi, Clea, Hercules, Ms. Marvel, Sharon Carter, Scott Lang, Black Panther Shuri, G'iah, Daredevil, US Agent, and Quake fit into all this?
