I’m behind on this one.. I’ve read it and heard it but it just doesn’t sound right to me. Why has power substituted peace?

Whichever one you say, you must growl after you say it.

You can use either or though rest in power has other meaning For example, with Trayvon Martin you are saying rest in power to him because he can't rest in peace until his death and the person responsible has been brought to justice. Use Rest in Power for a lot of "wrongful deaths"

I prefer peace. Haven’t heard the power one used too much.

Rest in power is usually used when someone is killed before their time, especially if they're an activist for some sort of social cause left unfulfilled. Like, you're going to use Rest In Power for Nipsey Hussle, but likely not Harley Race.

Rest in Power just sounds so forced.

In this case I heard it used for Harley Race and I wouldn’t say he falls under that category so that’s why I asked if that’s just what we’re doing now.

It would have been funny to hear Taker say "rest in power" at the end of a promo.

Rest in Power just sounds so forced. Not for the reason that it exist

Rest in Power just sounds so forced. Not for the reason that it exist True enough, but I see it slung around a lot with respect to people for whom that reason does not apply. Usually because the person saying it thinks it sounds cooler than "rest in peace."

It would have been funny to hear Taker say "rest in power" at the end of a promo. Kinda feels like if The Undertaker joined the Nation of Domination...

I sorta get what they are trying to do with the whole rest in power thing, but it doesn't change how bloody stupid it sounds.

I've basically only heard rest in power said as a joke and wasn't aware it was something people said in all earnest. It's so goofy I have a hard time imagine using it that way.

I've never heard "Rest in Power" before and I'm sorry but it sounds just incredibly tryhardy regardless of context. It really comes across as something that would only be uttered by the sort of insecure people who are terrified of not coming across as hard at all times. It feels like something a caricatural character would be made to say as a joke in a movie or something especially because, well, it makes no sense. "Rest in Peace" makes perfect sense because the person no longer has to struggle and you hope they're in a better place where they can find peace and quiet they couldn't find during their lifetime. But what the Hell does "Rest in Power" even mean? Are they supposed to grit their teeth while reclining on a cloud in Paradise? Why WOULD they even need power in the afterlife? Isn't that the exact opposite of resting?
I get the sentiment but it sounds so foolish and shallow. It seems especially weird to me if people are doing it for activists of victims of oppression considering it really makes it sound like they're saying that these people deserve a special afterlife for being so far above the rest of the plebs, which I'm pretty sure would go against their beliefs. People seriously need to stop trying to constantly come up with these nonsense variations on phrases to make it sound like it's so much more important when they're the ones doing it, but only end sup proving that they don't really have anything meaningful to say on the subject, so they try to compensate with catchy buzzwords. You don't need to turn everything into a spectacle, FFS.
