I would like to get excited for this but everytime something new regarding the muppets comes along, it gets cancelled soon after The original Muppet Show would never succeed today, it took awhile for it to really find its feet. I felt like the new ABC show was starting to do the same by the end of the second season when it got away from the dated Office homage a little bit more.

Oh, I must have thought that because they did a short break in the middle of the season for some reason. I think they may have even done a soft reboot halfway through.

Muppets tonight was not too bad. If they did that again it would be decent

It was only on for one season. I think they may have even done a soft reboot halfway through. They did. The show took a break and came back with new showrunners who started making it more of a situation comedy. I still find it annoying the show spent a bit of it's reboot trying to patch up Kermit and Piggy, and in mainstream apperances afterwards they still act like bitter exes. Nobody wants to see that anymore (I loved the episode where they had to explain the break-up to Robin)

That's not hte one that was announced at d23 or that this thread was about. Muppets Now is still in production... the scripted show they were working on was the one cancelled.

Why do you assume I don't know this?

I've seen a few people think they were the same show, as well as this being the thread for Muppets Now.

I've seen a few people think they were the same show, as well as this being the thread for Muppets Now. This show was kinda/sorta announced back in February ("Josh Gad writing new Muppet show" was a headline that rang a bell in my old cobwebby head, and lo I found tweets from 7 months ago confirming that) but was apparently never officially confirmed. From what I've read, Muppets Now was the brainchild of the new head of Muppets at Disney. This being an "old regime" idea meant it was probably dead in the water once that administrative change was made.

Yeah, by what I read a new scripted series is still in development but when the new head came in Josh Gad and the others left due to creative differences
