Absolutely love the game, and it is weird how a Batman game of all things wound up leaving fingerprints on a lot of the medium in the years since. Honestly makes me sort of tempted to rush replaying it for the occasion given it's not exactly a long game to start with.
Though while I think it's the best game in the series, one place where the sequels definitely improved on it is the boss fights. I dunno which one's my favorite, the one where you throw a Batarang at someone charging you, the one where you throw a Batarang at someone charging you, the one where you walk around in silence for ages, the one where you throw a Batarang at someone charging you, or Poison Ivy.

10 years?
f***ing hell, I remember pre-ordering the game.
And yes it's brilliant, In fact I think it's the best of the 4 (The rest are very good though).

The Scarecrow sequences and levels are among some of the best moments in videogame history. Absolutely frightening stuff

My favorite of the series. It hits that 3D Metroid style exploration perfectly.

Love that game. By far my favorite of the series. Just replayed the remaster at some point over the last year, and it still holds up!

Yeah, boss fights have never been a strength of the franchise. There are some standouts, but yeah, lot of room for improvement.
Still, I quite like the games. The first one is in many ways the best one, though I'm quite partial to City, if only because I quite liked playing as Selina.

Jesus, 10 years?
Played this for the PS3 but never fully completed it. Got it sitting in my Steam library. An Anniversary is a good excuse to playthrough a game again.

This one and Bam Ham City are two of my favorite games ever.

Huh, I felt like replaying it and Arkham City for the sake of replaying it recently. Didn't realize we were coming on the 10 year anniversary.
Still holds up really well in that sort of Zelda/Metroid-style exploration without the open world trappings later games embraced. Predator Mode is still extremely fun because it's one of the few times I can think of that can successfully pull off a power fantasy with a stealth mode. But yeah, the regular melee combat isn't that great and the boss fights are especially meh. The adds during the Titan fights are obnoxious especially.

Like others, this is my favourite of the four. City has more to do but Asylum just has that feeling of Batman being completely alone in a terrible place and the gadgets aren’t as over-powered or ridiculous (Batmobile, I’m looking your way) as other games.
If only it had a better final boss. (Although in all the Arkham games, The Riddler is my choice for the final boss as getting all his trophies/riddles etc. is more of a challenge).

Glad to see a lot of people saying it's their favorite, I felt alone on that island for a few years after City came out. The atmosphere in this one..it's almost more of a horror game than a superhero game.

You also can't even finish the riddles in Asylum until after the game's beaten because some of the teeth don't spawn.

I always wanted an ultimate Arkham title with Asylums's tight setting, City's broader versatility in attacks/stealth, Origins quality in boss fights, and Knight's graphical scope.

When it first came out, I didn’t pay it much attention. Didn’t read any reviews or anything. I’d just assumed it was another mediocre superhero game. Later, I watched mu younger cousin play it and it looked fun. But I still didn’t pick it up until the following Summer. And, yeah, just a fantastic game. I like AC a bit better, but you can’t go wrong either way.

I always beat The Joker after collecting all the Joker Teeth and competing all the Riddler Challenges.

I always beat The Joker after collecting all the Joker Teeth and competing all the Riddler Challenges. Looking it up turns out it's kind of half-right - there's a certain set of teeth that only spawns at certain points in the story. You can get them before beating the game but if you don't get them at a particular time then you can't until you beat it.

I absolutely love how claustrophobic the game is. Later games got bigger, but as a result the map felt a lot more lifeless. Having it all in a confined space was a terrific idea.

Are those the teeth that appear in the upper area of a room in the mansion after you hit Zsasz with a batarang?

In City and onward, a lot of times you had the ability to just swoop to another building and let the heat die down if the bad guys started getting the upper hand. In Asylum, you were locked in that room with them until either you or they were done. Way more intense that way.
