So I was looking Adrian Street clips on YouTube and brought up an old match of his with Macho Man. The interesting bit was that Elizabeth was the hostess of the show (using her real name Liz Hulette). She seemed really comfortable on the mic and I was wondering why she very rarely spoke on WWF TV. She was briefly a co-host of All-American Wrestling after Mania V, if I remember it right, but she didn't get a whole lot of mic time. Was there any reason given for this? My theories:
1. She didn't really need to and it gave her a little mystique to just use her body language to convey emotions (probably one of the most underrated performers in wrestling history in this aspect, by the way)
2. Or did Vince's legendary hatred of Southern accents extend to Liz as well? Her voice wasn't grating or anything but she does have a very pronounced Southern lilt to her voice. Did she say hello to Vince once and he was just like "The broad keeps her mouth shut!"?

I would really lean on #1, combined with Savage's paranoia about her being away from him, which she would have to be in order to do anything un Randy related.

Leaning 1. Vince wasn't big on Southern accents, but the mystique was probably the motivating factor, given that it's not exactly like a Southern belle act wouldn't have been easy.

THAT was the show I was thinking about, good grab. Stephanie's given interviews saying Liz was her idol growing up and Bret Hart mentioned in his book that his oldest daughter would get little makeovers if she was going to a show that Liz would be at. Follow-up question: Are there any stories of people having heat with Elizabeth? If you can the McMahons and the Harts going soft on you, you must have something special.

The only time period I heard of Liz having heat was when she got with Luger it was said they brought the worst out in eachother. They were seen as only being there for the paycheck(which wasn’t rare in wcw) and she was getting a rep of getting Luger worked up and at odds with management when she didn’t want to do things & also not socializing with anyone but Lex.Russo and Her didn’t get along at all but that was mostly cause he wanted her to get naked and wrestle. It was rather eye opening that after both Liz and Luger got sent home in 2000 for refusing angles they brought back Luger and not Liz.

I think it's number one all the way. She did have a little southern to her speech but it wasn't thick by any means. I think her body language and expressive eyes/face was enough.
I highly doubt there was anything up with Vince. I think it's been documented somewhere or confirmed (maybe by Prichard?) that Vince thought Liz was about the sweetest and classiest woman on the planet. In fact, I think it might have been on Confidential or something when they did the blurb on her passing that VKM was talking about her like she walked on water.

All indications are that Vince thought quite highly of her. Remarkably so. I recall him being quite emotional (for Vince) when they aired the tribute to her on WWE Confidential. And it's long been believed that he essentially blamed Savage for her death (that protecting her SO much caused her to "lash out" and go for a guy that'd get her into drugs) and that was "the real reason" why we never saw Savage in the WWE again.

I always thought Vince blamed Lex for Liz’s death? That Confidential episode all but implied that Lex was responsible.

Yep they blamed Luger and WCW for not being like a family like the WWF was. m.youtube.com/watch?v=d5dnzNTikXU&t=182s

Tell that to Brian Pullman's family. Absolutely 100 percent right on. I still think that interview Vince did with Brian’s widow the night after his death was disgusting. One of the worst things I’ve ever seen Vince do.

She didn't need to speak. She is still the most beautiful woman ever in wrestling. Her mere presence was enough to play the character.

She was originally brought into ICW (Angelo Poffo's "Outlaw Mudshow" running in KY and TN) as an announcer and that's how she and Randy met.
That said, her time in WWE made her the icon we remember her as being. Her time in WCW was typical of its mistreatment of former WWE talent (in that they utterly misread their appeal in WWE and why their acquisition might be a BFD.) Miss Elizabeth suffered this mishandling to a greater extent than most in that they basically Orndorffed her and did all they could to degrade her image. For how Russo treated her alone I would gladly support Cornette in any feud he will ever have with Russo, and I will continually call for Russo never again to get a job in pro wrestling.
